Smith finished a triple short of the cycle Wednesday, going 3-for-3 with a double, a homer, a walk and three runs against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Way back at the beginning of July, Smith fashioned a four-game homer streak that included consecutive three-hit games. Between that pair of three-hit efforts and Wednesday's game, he hit just .212/.294/.345 with three homers and 30 strikeouts in 113 at-bats -- and, needless to say, no three-hit games. But it's no big news that Smith is what he is: a platoon player with limited fantasy appeal.

Smith is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Rangers, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith is hitting a mere .160 against lefties this season, making Tuesday's matchup against Cole Hamels very unfavorable for the 33-year-old. With Smith sitting out, Guillermo Heredia will start in left field and hit ninth.

Smith is out of the lineup Sunday against the White Sox, Shannon Drayer of 710 AM KIRO reports.
EDGE Analysis
With the White Sox bringing left-handed starters to the hill for the final three contests of the four-game series, Smith has been relegated to a bench role due to his big platoon splits. In his stead, Franklin Gutierrez will enter the lineup in right field for the third time in as many days.

Smith is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Yankees, according to Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune.
EDGE Analysis
As is typically the case when the Mariners face a left-handed starter, as they will Tuesday in CC Sabathia, Smith will be held out in favor of Franklin Gutierrez.

Smith (foot) is in the lineup Monday against the Angels, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will be the Mariners' DH and be batting second in the order. He's struggled at the plate recently, having gone 4-for-17 over the last seven games, but will have the chance to get back on track Monday against the struggling Ricky Nolasco.

Smith was scratched from Sunday's lineup against the Athletics with a bruised right foot, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith fouled a ball off his foot during Saturday's game and reported that he was still experiencing soreness while working out Sunday morning, so the Mariners will play it safe and hold him out for the series finale. In Smith's place, Dae-Ho Lee will enter the lineup at DH.

Smith is not in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Franklin Gutierrez will take over in right field with a lefty in Tyler Skaggs toeing the rubber for the Angels, as is standard whenever the Mariners face a southpaw. Smith is doing his part against right-handers, batting .276/.374/.448 with 11 homers in 239 at-bats, and he should be back in the two-hole Sunday against Matt Shoemaker.

Smith is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against Boston, Bob Dutton of the Tacoma News Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
This will mark the fifth straight game that Smith is out of the lineup as Franklin Gutierrez gets the nod in right. Smith is typically shielded from left-handers and with David Price on the mound for the Red Sox, it shouldn't come as a surprise that he is still on the bench. Smith will likely be back in the lineup Wednesday for the series finale as Rick Porcello toes the rubber for Boston.
