Manaea (shoulder) fired 3.2 scoreless innings in High-A Stockton's win over Lancaster on Thursday, allowing four hits and two walks while recording four strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
There were multiple aspects of Manaea's outing that were encouraging, beginning with the scoreless line. After all, the left-hander had surrendered nine earned runs over his first two turns against High-A bats, which was reason for at least mild concern. Then, Manaea also worked all the way up to 64 pitches, 39 of which found the strike zone. This was likely the type of performance the Athletics needed to see from the 27-year-old before bumping up the organizational ladder to continue his rehab assignment, but time will tell of Manaea is destined for at least one more appearance with the Ports.

Manaea (shoulder) is scheduled for another rehab start Thursday with High-A Stockton, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea has made two starts with Stockton thus far and threw 43 and 53 pitches, respectively. The 27-year-old will have a pitch count around 65 on Thursday and is expected to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Las Vegas for two or three additional appearances.

Manaea (shoulder) took the loss for High-A Stockton against Rancho Cucamonga on Saturday, allowing five earned runs on three hits and two walks across 2.1 innings. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was slated to ideally work up to four innings Saturday, but those plans went by the wayside after the left-hander was already up to 53 pitches in the third inning. Manaea is certainly getting his work in, but it's nevertheless troublesome that he's now yielded 11 runs (nine earned) on 10 hits and two walks across just 4.2 innings in his first pair of rehab appearances versus a level of competition well below major-league caliber. Considering the outcome of his first pair of turns with the Ports, it would seem very likely Manaea will make at least one more rehab start at the High-A level before a move up the organizational ladder is considered.

Manaea (shoulder) will throw four innings in a rehab start Saturday with High-A Stockton, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He gave up four runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings in his first rehab outing, and will be stretched out a little further in his second outing. Manaea could return to the big-league rotation at some point in late July or early August.

Manaea (shoulder) was charged with a loss in High-A Stockton's defeat at the hands of Visalia on Monday, allowing six runs (four earned) on seven hits and a wild pitch over 2.1 innings. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea's first taste of game action since September 2018 didn't exactly go smoothly. The recovering left-hander worked up to 43 pitches, 32 of which found the strike zone, and he was partly victimized by a pair of errors behind him. Manaea will look for better results in his next outing, which should also come with the Ports later in the week.

Manaea (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Monday at High-A Stockton, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was briefly shut down in June due to an oblique issue, but he was able to resume throwing quickly and is now in the final stage of his rehab work. The 27-year-old has been on the injured list all season after undergoing shoulder surgery last September and will likely require multiple appearances in the minors to get back up to speed.

Manaea (shoulder) will throw another bullpen session Friday and could begin a rehab assignment soon after, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea resumed throwing Tuesday following a brief oblique-related setback. If his recovery proceeds smoothly from this point forward, he could be back in the rotation before the end of the month, though a return in early August appears more likely.

Manaea (oblique/shoulder) completed a 30-pitch bullpen session Tuesday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was shut down from throwing June 23 after experiencing soreness around his right oblique, but his quick return to the mound indicates it was only a minor issue. The 27-year-old appeared to be close to a rehab stint but will likely have to build his arm back up a bit after briefly pausing his rehab program.

Manaea (shoulder) will be shut down from throwing after experiencing soreness around his right oblique, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manaea was scheduled to pitch Tuesday and appeared to be closing in on a rehab stint, but he'll now have to press the pause button on his recovery program. Manager Bob Melvin wasn't sure when he might be cleared to resume throwing, though Manaea himself doesn't believe it to be a serious concern, according to Gallegos.

Manager Bob Melvin said Manaea (shoulder) is scheduled to pitch again Tuesday, though Oakland has yet to determine whether the lefty will appear in a simulated game or begin a minor-league rehab assignment, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
More clarity on Manaea's next step will likely arrive after he completes a bullpen session over the weekend and checks in with Oakland's medical staff. For his part, Manaea said he felt good following his most recent 60-pitch simulated game this week. Manaea, who has been sidelined all season following September shoulder surgery, should be ready to return from the 60-day injured list at some point shortly after the All-Star break if he hits no snags in his recovery program.
