Athletics GM Billy Beane stated Saturday that Scott Sizemore will return to his regular position of second base for the 2013 season.
Sizemore was penciled in as the A's starting third baseman in 2012, but he suffered a major injury in Spring Training and was forced to miss the entire year after ACL surgery. He'll likely have to compete with Jemile Weeks for the Opening Day gig in 2013.

Scott Sizemore (knee) is with the Athletics on their road trip and has been taking batting practice and fielding grounders every day.
Sizemore, who had ACL surgery back in March, had already resumed hitting last month. "It's a beautiful thing," he said. He's expected to be 100 percent for spring training next year.

Scott Sizemore (knee) has resumed hitting activities.
Sizemore hit off a tee Monday for the first time since landing on the disabled list. This doesn't change his timeline, and he still won't return this season. However, he should be 100 percent for spring training next year.

Athletics placed 3B Scott Sizemore (torn ACL) on the 60-Day disabled list.
The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for Yoenis Cespedes, who officially agreed to terms with the Athletics on Saturday. Sizemore had previously been ruled out for the 2012 season and is set to undergo surgery in 2-3 weeks. Josh Donaldson replaces him in the lineup.

Scott Sizemore suffered a torn ACL in his left knee and will miss the entire 2012 season.
Brutal news for Sizemore, who played well after being acquired from the Tigers last season and was set to serve as the A's starting third baseman in 2012. The 27-year-old will be reevaluated in two weeks before a date is set for surgery. The A's will likely look at Josh Donaldson, Adam Rosales, Eric Sogard and Wes Timmons as possible replacements at the hot corner.

Scott Sizemore will have an MRI exam on his left knee Monday.
Oakland thinks the knee is sprained. "We're holding out hope for good news," A's manager Bob Melvin said. "If ever there was a time to have (the injury), it's early in camp to be able to recover from that." Adam Rosales, Eric Sogard Wes Timmons and Josh Donaldson are expected to compete at third base in his absence. Depending on whether or not Sizemore's ligaments were torn, the recovery time could range anywhere from four to six weeks.

Scott Sizemore was forced from Saturday's workout with an apparent knee injury.
A full report will be available later today. The San Francisco Chronicle's Susan Slusser notes that there was ''an audible pop'' and Sizemore appeared to be in significant pain during a fielding drill. Test results are expected to determine the amount of damage, if any.
