Scott Sizemore (knee) isn't expected to play in Grapefruit League games until the end of the week or the beginning of next week. Sizemore's recovery from a second ACL surgery has gone well to this point, but the Yankees want to ease him into things. He'll likely begin this season in the minors as he attempts to knock some rust off, but it's possible he could be an option at second base for the Yanks sooner rather than later.

Joel Sherman of the New York post reports that Scott Sizemore's minor league deal with the Yankees includes a pair of opt-out clauses. Sizemore has the option to opt-out of the deal on May 1 and August 1 if he is not in the majors. The 29-year-old infielder has always possessed a decent blend of power and speed and could be a sneaky option in the later rounds of mixed league drafts should he secure the Yankees starting job at third base.

Yankees signed INF Scott Sizemore to a minor league contract with an invitation to spring training. The signing was first reported to be close by the New York Post's Ken Davidoff, and now FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal says it's official. Sizemore is coming off back-to-back lost seasons due to a tear and re-tear of the ACL in his left knee. He's healthy now, though, and lands in a good spot with the Yankees needing depth both at second and third base.

Ken Davidoff of the New York Post reports that the Yankees are "closing in" on a minor league deal with Scott Sizemore. Sizemore is coming off back-to-back lost seasons due to a tear and re-tear of the ACL in his left knee. However, he's a former top prospect and just turned 29 earlier this month, so he's a worthy gamble on a non-guaranteed deal. Sizemore also lands in a good spot with the Yankees, as the Bombers are currently slated to go into the year with the injury-prone Brian Roberts as their second baseman.

Juan C. Rodriguez of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reports that the Marlins have had internal discussions about offering Scott Sizemore a minor league contract. It makes sense, as Sizemore could compete with Donovan Solano, Ed Lucas and Derek Dietrich for starting jobs at either second base or the hot corner. The 28-year-old might struggle to find a guaranteed contract after missing almost two full seasons due to multiple ACL injuries.

Scott Sizemore has elected free agency. The 28-year-old infielder has had his career derailed by multiple ACL injuries, appearing in just 2 games the past two seasons. Still an intriguing blend of power and speed, he could make for an interesting flyer for teams searching for infield depth.

Athletics activated INF Scott Sizemore from the 60-day disabled list. Sizemore missed a second straight season after re-tearing his ACL last spring. The anticipation at this time is that he'll be ready for spring training.

Athletics transferred INF Scott Sizemore from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It's just a procedural move. Sizemore underwent a second major knee surgery last week and will not play this season.

Scott Sizemore underwent successful surgery on Tuesday to repair a torn ACL in his left knee. Sizemore has already been ruled out for the entire 2013 season and could struggle to recover in time for the start of the 2014 campaign. This was the infielder's second reconstructive knee procedure in two years.

Scott Sizemore will undergo surgery on his left ACL on Tuesday. Sizemore faces another long rehab. He'll obviously miss the 2013 season, and it's possible he won't be ready for the start of the 2014 campaign.
