Oberg (blood clot) will not return this season, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was placed on the 10-day injured list with axillary artery thrombosis -- something he dealt with at the end of the 2016 season as well. Wade Davis, who has been excellent on the road (0.63 ERA) and awful at home (9.70 ERA), has been tabbed the closer.

Oberg was placed on the 10-day injured list Sunday with a blood clot in his right arm.
EDGE Analysis
The official diagnosis is axillary artery thrombosis. This is the second time Oberg has dealt with this issue -- he also dealt with it in late 2016. It is unclear how long Oberg will be sidelined with the condition. He had been working as the Rockies' closer, but now some combination of Carlos Estevez, Wade Davis and Jake McGee figure to share the closing duties in the short term.

Oberg earned the save against the Marlins on Friday with a scoreless ninth inning that included one hit and one strikeout.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg struck out Isan Diaz before giving up a single to Brian Anderson. Luckily, the threat was quickly forgotten after the right-hander forced back-to-back groundouts for Neil Walker and Starlin Castro. Oberg now has five saves this season and has pitched well since taking over the closer role in early August. Through 49 appearances, he owns a sturdy 2.25 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 58:23 K:BB.

Oberg (6-1) earned the win after allowing one run on one hit and one walk with one strikeout during the ninth inning of Wednesday's 7-6 victory against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg was in line for the loss after entering for the top of the ninth inning and giving up a run in a tie game, but Nolan Arenado's two-run homer in the bottom of the frame flipped the decision in his favor. The 29-year-old has a 2.29 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 57:23 K:BB across 55 innings this season and should continue working as the Rockies' newly-anointed closer.

Oberg pitched a scoreless ninth inning, allowing two hits and recording his fourth save of the year in Friday's 5-4 win over the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg was officially named the closer by manager Bud Black earlier Friday and proved himself by protecting a one-run lead despite allowing one-out singles to Stephen Vogt and Brandon Belt. Oberg escaped the jam by forcing Mike Yastrzemski into a double play. The closer has shined this season with a 1.56 ERA and 1.06 WHIP over 52 innings. Prior to earning the closing role, Oberg had racked up eight holds, but he probably won't find himself in a set-up role anymore.

Oberg will slide into the closer role in Colorado, Nick Groke of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
The move is being framed as a temporary one, but it would hardly be surprising if Oberg keeps the job for the rest of the year. His 1.59 ERA is over five runs better than Davis' 6.82 mark. Oberg has just five career saves, but that number should quickly rise unless Davis is suddenly able to regain his manager's trust.

Oberg struck out the side without allowing a baserunner in a scoreless eighth inning in Colorado's 12-8 defeat to the Dodgers on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg continues to be a standout performer in Colorado's bullpen, as the right-hander now has a 2.04 ERA, a 0.98 WHIP and a 43:16 K:BB over 39.2 innings. He's been outperforming Wade Davis, who now has a 6.00 ERA after coughing up four earned in Thursday's loss. Oberg did well filling in for Davis while he was on the injured list with an oblique injury earlier this season, picking up three saves, so if Davis' struggles persist and threaten his job security, Oberg would almost certainly be first in line to take over the role.

Oberg allowed two hits and struck out two batters in a scoreless eighth inning Thursday against the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg picked up three saves while Wade Davis was out with an oblique injury, but he's firmly back in a setup role now. Oberg owns an excellent 1.78 ERA in 30.1 innings this season, though his underlying numbers don't suggest he's been particularly elite. It's taken a .211 BABIP and an 85.6 percent strand rate to get him to that low ERA, and neither his 23.3 percent strikeout rate nor his 11.7 percent walk rate is particularly strong.

Oberg picked up the save against the Cubs on Thursday, firing a scoreless ninth inning without allowing a baserunner to close out a 3-1 victory for the Rockies. He struck out one.
EDGE Analysis
Oberg has been performing well in place of injured closer Wade Davis (oblique), as this was his third straight successfully converted opportunity since he took over the role. Davis is reportedly nearing a return, so Oberg's days as the primary ninth-inning option are numbered, but he's established himself as the top choice to take over should Davis sustain another injury or run into any struggles that threaten his job security. For the season, Oberg is sporting a 1.65 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP over 27.1 innings.

Oberg retired the only batter he faced Saturday to record his second save of the season in a 4-2 win over the Blue Jays.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies held a four-run lead heading into the ninth inning, but after Carlos Estevez stumbled, Oberg entered the game with the tying run at the plate and got Rowdy Tellez to ground out. Wade Davis (oblique) made it through a bullpen session Friday without any issues, so Oberg's window for saves could be closing quickly.
