Alexander has posted a 1.93 ERA and seven strikeouts over 9.1 innings during Cactus League play.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to the beginning of camp, Alexander looked like he might open the campaign as the Royals' top left-handed option out of the bullpen, but that's no longer guaranteed with Mike Minor thriving in spring training and Travis Wood having since moved to a relief role after losing out on the fifth starter job. Alexander has at least performed well in his own right this spring, so manager Ned Yost should still find some opportunities for him, though his appearances may be confined primarily to lefty-on-lefty scenarios.

Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Joel Goldberg of FoxSports.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander owns a modest 3.00 ERA and 1.40 WHIP at Omaha. However, those marks have inflated to 4.85 and 1.54 in the big leagues this season. His control has been lacking with the Royals as well, as he has a 3.5 BB/9.

Alexander has allowed seven runs across 13 innings since being called up from Triple-A Omaha on May 12.
EDGE Analysis
Opponents haven't had much trouble getting baserunners when Alexander is on the mound, as batters have a .360 on-base percentage against him. Alexander has yet to appear in a game since June 5 after struggling mightily in his last three appearances, when he gave up five earned runs across three innings.

Alexander was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday, Rustin Dodd of the Kansas City Star reports.
EDGE Analysis
The left-handed Alexander has spent the whole 2016 campaign at Triple-A to this point, allowing three earned runs over 14.0 innings of work out of the bullpen. He'll add a fresh arm to a bullpen that has been taxed of late thanks to short starts from Chris Young (forearm) and Kris Medlen (shoulder)--both of whom have since been placed on the disabled list.

Alexander was optioned to Triple-A Omaha on Wednesday, Josh Vernier of 610 Sports Radio in Kansas City reports.
EDGE Analysis
Alexander got his first taste of major league action near the end of last season, making four appearances and allowing three earned runs on five hits over 6.0 cumulative innings. He'll start the year in Omaha for the second consecutive season after competing for a bullpen spot with the Royals throughout spring training.
