Travis had his contract purchased from Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday, Tim Britton of The Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis had been raking with the PawSox prior to his callup, putting together a .337/.394/.512 slash line with nine extra-base hits and 13 RBI in the past 30 games. His big calling card is his ability to hit left-handed pitching, so he seems like a logical fill-in for Mitch Moreland when southpaws take the mound for the opposition. To make room for the top prospect on the active roster, Hector Velazquez was sent back to Triple-A.

Travis went 2-for-4 with his third home run of the season for Triple-A Pawtucket on Tuesday. He's had multiple hits in four of his last six games.
EDGE Analysis
Travis, who missed a handful of games in April after colliding with teammate Blake Swihart, had been scuffling at .178 on April 27. But since then, he's put together a run of 20-for-62 (.323), raising his season average to .262. It's not hard to see where he would fit on Boston's roster. As Hanley Ramirez continues to be a DH-only due to shoulder and trapezius injuries, Travis fits as the right-handed hitting complement to Mitch Moreland at first base.

Travis is 2-for-14 since returning to the Triple-A Pawtucket lineup after missing a few games following a collision with teammate Blake Swihart.
EDGE Analysis
Overall, Travis is hitting .156/.270/.344 with 13 strikeouts over 37 plate appearances -- a 35.1 percent strikeout rate that more than doubles his career average (15.1 percent). He's proven to be a better hitter than this during his four minor-league seasons, so improvement is expected. Travis should reach Boston this season but the promising start of Mitch Moreland means he won't be getting there ahead of schedule.

Travis (lip) is back in the lineup for Triple-A Pawtucket on Saturday, hitting third and playing first base.
EDGE Analysis
He missed the last three games due to a cut on his lower lip that required stitches. Of the Red Sox's top prospects, Travis is the only one who realistically has a chance of making an impact in the majors this season. He has 52 games under his belt at Triple-A, but would likely need to force the issue for the Red Sox to consider him before rosters expand in September.

Travis is not in the lineup for Triple-A Pawtucket's game Friday due to lingering effects from his collision with Blake Swihart on Tuesday, Brendan McGair of the Pawtucket Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis and Swihart collided while pursuing a foul pop-up in Tuesday's contest, and although Swihart returned to action Friday, Travis will sit out another day to rest up. Swihart reportedly received a few stitches in his lower lip, but he's expected to be good to go in the next few days.

Travis was reassigned to minor league camp, Christopher Smith of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis had a strong spring training, slashing .318/.400/.591/.991 with three homers, three doubles and 12 RBI in 21 spring games. It's nearly certain he'll make his debut in MLB at some point this season. Perhaps sooner than we had expected given that Hanley Ramirez has not yet played the field during spring training due to a wonky shoulder that allows him to hit but not throw without pain.

Travis went 2-for-4 with two RBI in Tuesday's game against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Travis had sat out one game after taking a pitch off the knee Sunday. The 23-year-old has rebounded well from knee surgery in 2016 and hasn't lost a beat at the plate. He'll start the season at Triple-A Pawtucket, where he can continue to refine his defense, but he should reach Boston at some point this season. His path to the majors is limited to first base or DH, positions currently occupied by Mitch Moreland and Hanley Ramirez, but a Ramirez injury doesn't so far-fetched.

Travis (knee) will play third base and bat third in the order in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Yankees, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis was initially on tap to make a start Monday, but the Red Sox scratched him as a precaution while he dealt with some residual soreness in his knee after being hit by a pitch Sunday. It looks like he just needed the extra day off for the problem to dissipate, so he'll aim to continue what has been an eye-opening spring for one of the organization's top prospects. He's shown more power than expected this spring and could make his MLB debut in the second half of 2017 if injury or poor performance from Mitch Moreland and Hanley Ramirez prompts the Red Sox to look for additional reinforcement at first base.

Travis was pulled from Monday's lineup after getting hit in the knee by a pitch during Sunday's game, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is probably the Red Sox exercising some caution with the highly regarded prospect, who has three homers and a 1.133 OPS in 33 spring at-bats. Travis underwent left knee surgery last year, though the report does not specify if that was the knee dinged Sunday.

Travis needs to refine aspects of his defense as the final piece to reach the majors, according to manager John Farrell, Jen McCaffrey of MassLive.com reports. "He's got to refine defense, there's no doubt," Farrell said earlier this spring. "His footwork around the bag, just smoothing some things out defensively."
EDGE Analysis
Travis, Boston's fourth-ranked prospect according to RotoWire, has spent a lot of time this spring with infield coach Brian Butterworth who said the young first baseman was improved over last season. Additionally, Travis has been soaking in all that Gold Glove first baseman Mitch Moreland has to offer. Travis will begin the season at Triple-A Pawtucket where he can work on the needed skills defensively and is expected to make his MLB debut at some point this season.
