Travis went 0-for-3 in Monday's 4-3 extra-innings loss to the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Travis got the start at first base, giving the slumping Michael Chavis a breather. He's hitting just .133 (2-for-15) over five games since being recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket. Travis is the primary backup to Chavis at first while Mitch Moreland (quadriceps) and Steve Pearce (back) are on the injured list.

Travis entered Thursday's game as the designated hitter after J.D. Martinez departed due to back spasms. He went 0-for-3 with a strikeout in a 7-5 win over Kansas City.
EDGE Analysis
Martinez is dealing with the same issue he's had since spring training. The back has been the source of discomfort that's caused him to miss time during March, April and May. The right-handed hitting Travis was the replacement against left-hander Danny Duffy, but he may not be the full-time replacement should Martinez require a trip to the injured list. Manager Alex Cora can use Brock Holt or Mitch Moreland (back), who is due to return Friday, at DH against right-handers.

Travis was recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket prior to Saturday's game against the Yankees.
EDGE Analysis
Steve Pearce was placed on the 10-day injured list with a lower-back strain, so Travis will come up to take his place as a right-handed bat off the bench. He could get some starts against left-handed pitchers in the short term, and may even get some starts against righties as Mitch Moreland is also on the IL with a minor back injury. Travis was hitting .251/.359/.371 with three home runs in 49 games at Triple-A.

The Red Sox optioned Travis to Triple-A Pawtucket on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Travis never looked to be long for the Red Sox's active roster with Steve Pearce (calf) requiring only a brief stint on the injured list to open the season. After seeing action in two games with the big club and going 2-for-7 at the dish, Travis should reclaim a full-time role upon returning to Pawtucket.

Travis was scratched from Tuesday's game against the Nationals due to an illness, Michael Silverman of the Boston Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
A sickness has been making its way through Boston's clubhouse, and Travis is the latest victim, joining the likes of Steve Pearce, Brian Johnson and Bryce Brentz. Chad De La Guerra took his place in the lineup. Travis should be considered day-to-day.

Travis was removed from Wednesday's game against the Yankees for precautionary reasons, Chris Cotillo of MassLive.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Travis apparently suffered an injury in the seventh inning after slamming into the wall while making a catch. He was initially able to stay in the game and finish the inning before being replaced prior to the next frame. Specifics remain unclear at the moment. Travis should be considered day-to-day.
