X-rays on Ryan Theriot's face were negative.
Theriot was removed from Monday's Cactus League game after getting hit in the face by a pickoff throw. He showed up to camp Tuesday with a black eye and a swollen nose, but those are obviously not serious injuries.

Ryan Theriot was sent for X-rays after being hit in the face by a pickoff throw Monday.
Theriot left Monday's gave after a pickoff throw bounced off his glove and hit him in the face. Giants' manager Bruce Bochy said that while the 32-year-old infielder was "bleeding profusely," he didn't think his nose was broken. We should learn more about his status on Tuesday.

Ryan Theriot left Monday's game against the Royals after being hit in the face with the baseball on a pickoff throw.
Theriot, who was playing second base at the time, appeared to have the ball glance off his glove before hitting him in the face. He immediately left the field holding a cloth to his nose. Stay tuned for an update on his status.

Giants signed SS Ryan Theriot to a one-year contract.
The deal was reported earlier and has now been confirmed by the club. CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman reports that the contract is for $1.25 million, with $750,000 more possible in incentives, but it's interesting to note that the deal is not guaranteed. But, barring something unforeseen, Theriot should make the Opening Day roster and is probably the favorite to start over Brandon Crawford. He produced an unimpressive .271/.321/.342 batting line with one home run, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and a .662 OPS over 483 plate appearances in 2011 for St. Louis.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Giants have signed free agent infielder Ryan Theriot to a one-year deal.
Heyman says he'll receive $1.25 million guaranteed, with a possible $750,000 more in incentives. It's probably the best possible landing spot for Theriot, as he's likely the favorite to start at shortstop over Brandon Crawford. The problem is that he can't really play shortstop anymore and hit an unimpressive .271/.321/.342 with one home run, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and a .662 OPS over 483 plate appearances in 2011 for the World Champion Cardinals.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Reds and Rays are in on free agent infielder Ryan Theriot.
Theriot wouldn't start for either team, but he could be useful as a backup middle infielder. The 32-year-old was non-tendered by the Cardinals last month after batting .271/.321/.342 with one home run, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and a .662 OPS over 483 plate appearances in 2011. He has a .775 career OPS against left-handed pitching.

David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution suggests that the Braves' reported interest in free agent infielder Ryan Theriot is "overstated."
Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reported last week that the Braves were one of the clubs interested in Theriot, but O'Brien suspects that the club wants a stronger defender to back up rookie Tyler Pastornicky at shortstop. Additionally, he writes there's a "decent chance" the Braves could wait to see who becomes available during spring training. As for Theriot, he has also reportedly drawn interest from the Reds, Mets and Rays in recent weeks.

Reds general manager Walt Jocketty said he's had conversations with Ryan Theriot's representatives, but the two sides aren't close to a deal.
"We're trying to get a hitter first," Jocketty said. What the GM is saying is that the Reds are eying an upgrade to their outfield first, with Theriot sitting on the back burner. The Braves, Rays and Mets have also been mentioned as potential landing spots for the free agent infielder.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Braves, Rays and Mets are among the teams interested in free agent Ryan Theriot.
Theriot probably wouldn't be guaranteed a starting role on any of those teams, but all three could certainly use another infielder. The 32-year-old was non-tendered by the Cardinals earlier this month after batting just .271/.321/.342 with one home run, 47 RBI, four stolen bases and a .662 OPS over 483 plate appearances in 2011. Troy Renck of the Denver Post reported earlier this week that the Rockies also have interest.
