Jonathan Mayo of MLB.com reports that the Indians are "balking" at the Padres' asking price for Ryan Ludwick. We've heard all along that the Indians dealing for Ludwick was pretty much a lock, but perhaps that's not the case. The Indians don't need to overpay for a guy that's batted just .238/.301/.372 this season, so San Diego might need to get realistic if they want to move him.

Ryan Ludwick is in the Padres' lineup Sunday. The Padres are reportedly on the verge of sending Ludwick to Cleveland, but the deal isn't complete yet. We fully expect him to eventually be scratched and shipped to the Indians once the details are ironed out.

The Indians could acquire Padres outfielder Ryan Ludwick Saturday night or Sunday morning, according to CBS Sports' Scott Miller. Having already reportedly acquired Rockies starter Ubaldo Jimenez, Cleveland is now targeting offensive support. Ludwick, who played parts of three seasons with the Tribe earlier in his career, is hitting just .169/.220/.253 in July and has a disappointing .238/.301/.372 batting line for the season. The veteran outfielder hasn't acclimated well to hitter-killer PETCO, but he has a solid .792 career OPS.

ESPN's Buster Olney reports that talks between the Padres and Indians regarding Ryan Ludwick "have some traction" and there "appears to be a good chance that the two sides will work something out." With the Braves and Reds reportedly focusing their attention elsewhere, Cleveland had been the likely landing spot for Ludwick. SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Indians are the "most likely" landing spot for Ryan Ludwick. The Braves and Reds, Heyman says, are "concentrating on others." Ludwick hasn't done much for his trade value by hitting just .169/.220/.253 in July and he sports a pedestrian .238/.301/.372 batting line for the season.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Indians are making a "strong push" for the Padres' Ryan Ludwick. The Indians acquired Kosuke Fukudome on Thursday but are still in the market for some more hitting and evidently have Ludwick at the top of the list. Ludwick is batting just .238/.302/.373 with 11 home runs for the Padres this season but has piqued the interest of multiple parties.

Ryan Ludwick is not in the starting lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks. There's nothing official yet, but the San Diego Union-Tribune is hearing rumblings that "a trade could be going down." Jon Heyman of SI.com reported this morning that the Phillies, Braves, Reds and Indians were all pursuing the 33-year-old outfielder. There's a good chance he'll be dealt before the July 31 deadline.

SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies, Braves, Reds and Indians are pursuing Padres' outfielder Ryan Ludwick. All of these teams have been mentioned in connection with Ludwick over the past couple of weeks. The Indians' pending acquisition of Kosuke Fukudome may take them out of the mix, though. Ludwick, 33, is batting .238 with 11 homers and 62 RBI this season and will be a free agent this winter.

Jon Heyman of SI.com reports that the Indians are "in the mix" for Ryan Ludwick. The Indians tried (and failed) to make a splash for Carlos Beltran, but Ludwick would still be an upgrade for their depleted outfield. The 33-year-old has an underwhelming .240/.302/.376 batting line this season, but has enjoyed more success away from PETCO Park. The impending free agent could benefit from a change in scenery.

Ryan Ludwick drove in four of the Padres' 14 runs in their Wednesday night thrashing of the Marlins. That gives him 61 through his first 93 games this season. Seeing as 38 of those have come on the road away from cavernous Petco Park (where he's hitting .261 compared to .225 at home), Ludwick should be a pretty hot commodity ahead of next week's non-waiver trade deadline.
