Suarez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning to record his third save of the year in Wednesday's 5-2 win against the Guardians.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez's start to the regular season has made his disastrous spring training feel like a distant memory. He's now converted all three of his save opportunities while striking out four batters and allowing just one man to reach base via a walk. The 34-year-old remains one of the most reliable relievers in the game and doesn't appear to be at risk of losing his hold on the Padres' closer job.

Suarez struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Friday to record his second save of the season in a 4-3 win over Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The 34-year-old right-hander has wiped the slate clean after a bumpy spring training, picking up saves in each of the Padres' first two games without allowing a run or a hit. Suarez finished fourth in the majors last season with 36 saves in a breakout campaign, and he appears to be on track to be among the league leaders again in 2025.

Suarez earned the save in Thursday's 7-4 win over Atlanta, issuing one walk while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
It was an encouraging start to the year for Suarez after he struggled to an ugly 15.43 ERA in Spring Training. Despite the rough spring, Suarez entered 2025 entrenched as San Diego's closer after converting 36 saves while posting a 2.77 ERA in 65 innings last year.

Suarez allowed four runs on five hits and one walk over one-third of an inning in a Cactus League contest against Colorado on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez entered in the fourth inning and surrendered a single to five of the first six batters he faced to allow the Rockies to plate three runs. The right-hander walked the final batter of his outing to load the bases before being pulled. Suarez has given up eight runs over 3.2 frames across five appearances this spring while posting a 4:4 K:BB, and it's worth noting that Suarez struggled with a 5.24 ERA over the final two months of the regular season last year. However, he's almost certain to open this season as San Diego's closer, with Jason Adam and Jeremiah Estrada next in line should Suarez's struggles continue beyond the exhibition slate.

Suarez walked one and struck out one in a scoreless and hitless inning to earn the save in Friday's 5-3 win over the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez has converted three straight save chances but has taken three blown saves while allowing eight runs on 12 hits and six walks over 12 innings in September. The closer has managed to keep runs off the board in four of his last six outings. He's now at a 2.77 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 59:16 K:BB through 65 innings while adding 36 saves in 42 chances this season.

Suarez got the save Tuesday against the Dodgers, allowing one run on three hits over an inning of work.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez entered with the Padres up 4-1 and quickly made the game interesting after allowing three straight base hits to open up the frame. Suarez was likely on his last batter with Shohei Ohtani on deck and got Miguel Rojas to ground into a 5-4-3 triple play to end the game on one swing. Suarez has now allowed at least run in four of his last eight outings and has given up eight runs over his last eight innings. It doesn't seem as though his grip on the closer's role is slipping away, however, the Padres do have capable fill-in options with Tanner Scott and Jason Adam if Suarez's struggles trickle into the playoffs. Suarez now owns a 2.81 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 58:15 K:BB in 64 innings.

Suarez earned the save Sunday against the White Sox, allowing one hit and striking out two during a scoreless ninth inning.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez allowed just a two-out single before striking out Gavin Sheets to end the game. Sunday was just his second outing with multiple strikeouts since Aug. 10, and he's converted just three of his past six save chances and has given up seven runs in that span. Suarez has still been elite in his first season as a closer overall, as he owns a 2.71 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 58:15 K:BB in 63 innings while racking up 34 saves.

Suarez allowed two runs on a hit and a walk while striking out one over one inning, taking a blown save in Friday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez walked Gavin Sheets and allowed a two-run home run to Lenyn Sosa with two outs in the ninth inning. September hasn't been kind to Suarez -- he's blown three of his seven save chances this month while allowing seven runs over nine innings. For the season, he's 33-for-39 in save chances with a 2.76 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 56:15 K:BB through 62 innings. Should Suarez continue to falter, the Padres are not lacking in closing options, with Tanner Scott and Jason Adam among their most effective setup men.

Suarez pitched a perfect inning to earn the save in Monday's 3-1 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez took a blown save by allowing a game-tying home run Sunday versus the Giants, but he was able to bounce back just a day later. He needed just eight pitches to retire the side in the ninth inning of Monday's win. Suarez is up to 33 saves in 38 chances this year while maintaining a 2.55 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 54:14 K:BB across 60 innings. While two of his blown saves have come over his last four outings, he remains firmly in the closer role.

Suarez (9-3) allowed a run on one hit over one inning, taking a blown save but earning the extra-inning win over the Giants on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Suarez surrendered a game-tying home run to Heliot Ramos in the bottom of the ninth inning, but the Padres were able to regain the lead in the 10th. This was Suarez's fifth blown save of the campaign, two of which have come over his last three outings. He's now at a 2.59 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 54:14 K:BB with 32 saves across 59 innings as the Padres' closer this year. His recent slip-ups don't appear to be putting his role in danger yet.
