Ruiz signed with the LG Twins of the KBO on Monday, Jee-ho Yoo of the Yonhap News Agency reports.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz split time between the Orioles and Rockies in 2021, collecting a .168/.243/.272 line across 141 plate appearances. As a result of his poor performance, he was outrighted to Triple-A Albuquerque on Oct. 21 and faced an uncertain future in the major leagues. Instead, he'll head to the KBO on a one-year, $1 million deal and could be in line for a versatile role across the infield as well as in left field.

Ruiz was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz was sent down in early August, and he hit .269 with a home run, four doubles, nine runs, five RBI and a stolen base across 13 games during his most recent stint with the minor-league club. He should serve as infield depth in the majors after Alan Trejo was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Monday.

The Rockies optioned Ruiz to Triple-A Albuquerque on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz appeared in five games after being recalled July 27, going 1-for-7 with a walk and three strikeouts. He's hit just .165 in 37 games with Baltimore and Colorado this year, so it remains to be seen whether he'll get any more big-league opportunities in 2021.

Ruiz was recalled by the Rockies on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz is a career .214/.290/.364 hitter through 285 games at the major-league level, and he was even worse than that in 32 games for the Orioles at the start of this season before getting released. Still, anyone with a regular role who plays half their games at Coors Field is worth a look. Ruiz doesn't have such a role at the moment, so he can likely be ignored by fantasy managers in most formats for now, but deadline deals or an injury or two could certainly give him some deep-league appeal. Matt Adams was released in a corresponding move.

The Rockies claimed Ruiz off waivers from the Orioles on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz opened the season as the Orioles' everyday second baseman, but he lost hold of his starting role -- and his spot on the 40-man roster -- after batting .167 with a 28.7 percent strikeout rate over 101 plate appearances. The 27-year-old will move on to a favorable hitting environment in Colorado, but since Ruiz has two minor-league options remaining, he'll report to Triple-A Albuquerque initially. Ruiz will likely find himself behind Ryan McMahon, Brendan Rodgers, Josh Fuentes and Garrett Hampson in the pecking order at either third or second base with his new organization.

Ruiz was designated for assignment Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Ruiz recorded just four hits in his last 24 at-bats and appeared to have lost his job as an everyday starter in the infield, having played only twice since May 12. Despite homering three times, Ruiz has just six RBI on the season. He yields his roster spot to Stevie Wilkerson, whom the Orioles called up Tuesday.
