Brewers placed 2B Rickie Weeks on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to August 8, with a strained left hamstring. The results of Weeks' MRI aren't yet known, but the injury is obviously bad enough that he'll require at least a couple weeks of down time. Scooter Gennett has been summoned from Triple-A Nashville and should see the bulk of the playing time at second base while Weeks is out.

Rickie Weeks is headed back to Milwaukee to undergo an MRI on his injured left hamstring. Weeks told reporters that he felt "a little pop" in his hamstring Wednesday while running down the first base line. He is almost certain to be placed on the 15-day disabled list. Jeff Bianchi is starting at second base for the Brewers on Thursday in San Francisco.

Rickie Weeks told reporters that he "felt a little pop" in his hamstring on Wednesday night. Weeks had to be helped off the field Wednesday after pulling up lame on his way to first base. "I felt like a little pop or something like that," said the second baseman. "We think it's a pulled hamstring, so we're going to run some more tests tomorrow and see what happens." He is likely to be placed on the 15-day DL.

Rickie Weeks injured his left hamstring running to first base in Wednesday's game and had to be helped off the field. The Brewers are calling him day-to-day right now, but we have to believe a DL stint is in Weeks' future. The Brewers will probably bring Scooter Gennett back to the majors to start at second base in his place. Gennett is worth adding in NL-only leagues.

CBS Sports' Danny Knobler reports that the Royals are looking for upgrades at second base and have checked in on the Brewers' Rickie Weeks. Knobler hears that the Royals have also had discussions about Gordon Beckham of the White Sox and Howie Kendrick of the White Sox. However, there's nothing to suggest that they are close to a deal for any of those players. Royals second basemen are 29th in the majors this season with a .590 OPS.

Again in the leadoff spot, Rickie Weeks had a two-run double and a walk Monday in the Brewers' 5-0 win over the Cubs. It was a scoreless tie until the Brewers finally broke through against Pedro Strop in the ninth. Weeks hit then gave him his first multi-RBI Game since June 25, when he homered twice and knocked in four runs against the Cubs. He's expected to start one game in Tuesday's doubleheader, with Scooter Gennett playing the other.

Rickie Weeks went 0-for-4 in a loss to the Reds on Wednesday. Weeks has gone just 7-for-40 (.175) since June 29 after a decent stretch in the middle of the month raised the hopes of his disenchanted owners. The veteran second baseman, making, making $11 million in 2013, is batting just .227/.325/.383 with nine homers and 21 RBI on the year.

Rickie Weeks went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in the Brewers' 9-3 win over the Cubs on Tuesday. Weeks has been heating up for, well, weeks, but he is now officially hot. After Tuesday's game, the second baseman owns a .429 average with an OPS over 1.200 in June. The overall numbers are still pedestrian, but when Weeks is going like he is now there are few better options at the keystone.

Rickie Weeks hit a game-winning two-run homer in the eighth inning as the Brewers beat the Astros 3-1 on Wednesday. It was Weeks' first game hitting leadoff this year, and he responded by going 2-for-4 with the winning home run. The homer was his sixth of the season, and while he's taken a while to get going his average has been slowly rising since the middle of May. He's always a slow starter, so expect him to continue to get better as the season rolls on.
