The Mets hired Brignac as the manager for their rookie-level Appalachian League affiliate in Kingsport, officially spelling an end to the 33-year-old's playing days, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac last played professionally for the New Britain Bees of the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball in 2018 and was out of baseball for all of 2019. With Brignac now moving into coaching, he'll put an end to an MLB career that spanned nine seasons and included stops with the Rays, Yankees, Rockies, Phillies, Marlins and Braves. Over 369 career games, the infielder slashed .219/.264/.309 with 12 home runs and nine stolen bases.

Brignac was released by the Nationals on Saturday, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac was always a long shot to break camp with the Nationals, and his .179 batting average across 28 spring at-bats did little to help his cause. He'll now look to latch on elsewhere, though given his lack of major-league success, the 32-year-old will likely be limited to an organization depth role.

Brignac signed a minor-league contract with the Nationals on Monday, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac's deal includes an invitation to spring training. Brignac spent the 2017 season at Triple-A Fresno, where he slashed .251/.326/.411 over 110 games. Brignac does have some experience in the majors, but his performance has been subpar. Over 369 games he's hit .219 with a .573 OPS.

Brignac is experimenting with switch-hitting this spring in order to give himself a better shot of seeing more playing time, Brian McTaggart of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
After slashing a woeful .207/.207/.276 in 29 plate appearances with the Braves and an unspectacular performance in 424 plate appearances with Triple-A Gwinnett, Brignac is changing things up in order to make himself more of a threat as a hitter. The 31-year-old journeyman will be hoping that, by becoming a switch-hitter, his manager will be less inclined to pinch hit for him later in games in order to get a favorable righty-lefty matchup. While it is a promising idea, Brignac will have to prove this spring that he can actually hack it from both sides of the plate.

Brignac signed a minor league contract with the Astros on Friday that includes an invite to spring training, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac has spent time in the majors in each of the past nine seasons, but he hasn't reached 100 plate appearances in any of the past five years and has totaled just 46 plate appearances over the past two campaigns. The soon-to-be 31-year-old is a .219/.264/.309 career hitter at the major league level, but he can play shortstop, second base and third and thus has some real-life value.

Brignac has cleared waivers and will be assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan reports.
EDGE Analysis
After getting designated for assignment Friday, Brignac will elect to remain in the organization, rather than become a free agent. A backup infielder for one of the most offensively-challenged teams in baseball likely wasn't going to get much attention on the free agent market anyway.

Brignac was designated for assignment by the Braves on Friday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.
EDGE Analysis
Many of the Braves' infield options have been struggling at the plate this season, and Brignac was no different. In his limited at-bats, the 30-year-old could only muster a .207 batting average with three runs and a lone RBI. This performance led the Braves to send him off the 40-man roster, presumably in favor of younger players in the organization. A corresponding move has yet to be made, but Atlanta will likely need a new reserve infielder while Brignac heads to the minors to act as organizational depth.

Brignac went singled and doubled in his two at-bats while scoring two runs and driving in another in Tuesday's 12-9 loss to the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac came off the bench to replace Kelly Johnson and helped give hope to the Braves during a seventh-inning rally, but the team ultimately fell short to drop to 9-29 on the season. Johnson and Erick Aybar remain the Braves' primary starters in the middle infield, but Aybar in particular has been dreadful at the dish this season and could surrender more at-bats to Brignac in the near future.

Brignac is out of the lineup Sunday against the Diamondbacks.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac has made back-to-back starts at the hot corner, but will give way to Daniel Castro on Sunday, while Chase d'Arnaud takes over at second base. Look for the infield shuffle to continue in Atlanta, as the Braves have used seven different players to occupy the starting second and third base jobs this season.

Brignac is in the lineup and batting sixth for Tuesday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Brignac will start for the second straight day after having his contract selected by Atlanta on Monday. Although he went 0-for-4 in his Brave debut, he had been crushing the ball at the Triple-A level, going .329/.422/.400, and his versatility should allow him to find playing time in a struggling Braves lineup.
