The 28-year-old Brignac will become a free agent after the season, which explains the Phillies' willingness to drop him from their 40-man roster. He looks to be simply organizational depth at this stage of his career.

Reid Brignac went 1-for-4 with a walk-off three-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Padres. The Padres and Phillies battled for offensive futility supremacy, but Brignac snapped it with his walk-off blast against reliever Nick Vincent. It's his second walk-off hit for the Phillies despite having taken only 47 trips to the plate. The third baseman, filling in for the injured Cody Asche, has a home run and five runs batted in along with a .220/.304/.341 slash line, but is irrelevant for fantasy purposes.

Reid Brignac delivered a walk-off RBI single in the 14th inning to secure a 6-5 win over the Mets on Friday night. The game-winning hit was set up when Chris Young dropped a fly ball off the bat of Marlon Byrd to begin the inning. Carlos Ruiz then singled to center field and Cesar Hernandez was intentionally walked to load the bases before Brignac brought Byrd home.
