Peter Bourjos is likely headed to the disabled list after his ailing hamstring "tightened up" near the end of a workout on Thursday.
A bad break for Bourjos owners, but a brilliant one for those who scooped upon Mike Trout upon his stunning recall last Friday. Any placement of Bourjos on the disabled list would be made retroactive to July 8, though for someone who relies on his legs for his value, it doesn't seem terribly likely that Bourjos would be activated when first eligible on July 23. Trout will continue to start in his place.

Peter Bourjos (hamstring) is aiming to return to the Angels' lineup at some point this weekend.
Bourjos suffered a hamstring strain a few days before the All-Star break and spent the past week rehabbing in Arizona. He was able to shag fly balls and take batting practice Thursday at an optional team workout and told reporters that the injury is "feeling much better."

Angels manager Mike Scioscia said Peter Bourjos is his starting center fielder once his hamstring heals.
It sure seems like Mike Trout's first stint in the big leagues will be a short one. Though he won't play this weekend, the Angels haven't placed Bourjos on the DL yet, suggesting he could be back for the start of the second half or shortly after. Trout could come out on fire and change the Angels' way of thinking, but it looks like it might just be a three-game audition for one of the game's best prospects.

Peter Bourjos (hamstring) is not expected to play this weekend against the Mariners.
The Angels are unsure if Bourjos will require a stint on the disabled list, but since they've seen fit to call up uber-prospect Mike Trout to take his place in center field, it's a pretty good bet Bourjos won't be ready to immediately return following the All-Star break. If Trout hits the ground running, there's a good chance Bourjos may have Wally Pipped his way out of the lineup.

Peter Bourjos was pulled from Thursday's game after tweaking his leg while running the bases.
Bourjos rounded second base hard after slapping an RBI double in the bottom of the eighth inning. He had to put on the brakes quickly as the Mariners relayed the ball and appeared to injure himself while scampering back to the second base bag.

Peter Bourjos went 2-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and a steal Saturday versus the Dodgers.
Hitting .268 and slugging .397, Bourjos is exceeding expectations offensively this season. If he works hard at becoming a better basestealer, he might be a top-30 fantasy outfielder next year. He has nine steals in 13 attempts right now, but with his speed, he could have twice as many.
