Orioles transferred OF Nolan Reimold from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list. It's a procedural move in order to clear room on the 40-man roster for Francisco Rodriguez. Reimold is out for the season after undergoing surgery Tuesday to fuse two vertebrae in his cervical spine.

Nolan Reimold had surgery Tuesday to fuse two vertebrae in his cervical spine. Reimold had a procedure last June to remove a herniated disk in his neck and fuse the vertebrae together, but the inflammation has returned. The Orioles aren't expecting him back this season.

Orioles manager Buck Showalter indicated Friday that Nolan Reimold will miss the remainder of the 2013 season due to nerve inflammation in his cervical spine. The injury is believed to be related to the neck issue that plagued him during the 2012 season. His 2013 campaign comes to an end hitting just .195/.250/.336 in 140 plate appearances. His extended absence could open the door for Henry Urrutia to become an everyday player.

Orioles placed OF Nolan Reimold on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to July 14, with nerve inflammation in the cervical spine. The Orioles have yet to indicate a timetable for his return, but the injury is believed to be related to the neck issue he dealt with last year. Reimold has played in just 56 games this season and is batting .195/.250/.336 over 140 plate appearances.

Nolan Reimold is headed back to the disabled list with a recurrence of the neck pain that forced him to miss nearly all of last season. Well, that's not good. Reimold had spinal fusion surgery last year in hopes to correct the issue, and while it appeared to work for a while, he's obviously having problems again. The outfielder has played just 56 games since the start of last season and hasn't played more than 87 games in a season since his rookie year back in 2009. It's not clear whether surgery is again on the table.

Batting ninth and serving as the designated hitter, Reimold took Josh Lindblom deep for a three-run homer in the fourth inning. It was Reimold's first home run since returning from the disabled list on July 2, and he's 5-for-18 (.277) in those six games.

Orioles activated OF/DH Nolan Reimold from the 15-day disabled list. Reimold, out since May 11 with a right hamstring strain, batted .196 (9-for-46) with one home run and one triple during his rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie. He figures to get semi-regular at-bats out of the DH spot now that he's finally back to full health.

Nolan Reimold (hamstring) will likely be activated from the disabled list next week. Reimold is hitting just .152 (5-for-33) with 12 strikeouts over his first nine rehab games, so he has agreed to stay in the minors a little longer in order to get his swing back. The expectation is that he could return when the Orioles play a three-game series on the road against the White Sox early next week.

Nolan Reimold (hamstring) will remain on his rehab assignment with Double-A Bowie. Reimold, out since May 11 with a right hamstring strain, is just 2-for-21 with eight strikeouts over first six rehab games. The good news is that he's feeling healthy, but the Orioles would like to see some better results before activating him.
