Nolan Reimold (neck) will be placed on the 15-day disabled list at the start of the 2014 season.
Reimold still isn't over the neck problems that have bothered him for two years running and the Orioles don't want to risk making the situation even worse. He can hit but can't play the outfield comfortably.

Nolan Reimold went 2-for-3 with a two-run homer off A.J. Burnett and a stolen base against the Phillies on Wednesday.
Reimold was the designated hitter today. His role on the Orioles is unclear with Nelson Cruz guaranteed a spot and Delmon Young also fighting, and it's possible he'll start off on the DL following his neck surgeries. Still, he shouldn't be completely written off in AL-only leagues.

Nolan Reimold will be given at-bats in minor league camp starting on Wednesday.
Reimold has missed nearly all of the past two seasons due to a pair of neck surgeries, and the Orioles are trying to get him as many at-bats as possible in an effort to get his timing back. The plan makes sense, but it also could mean Reimold will be on the DL to start the season. "It's just a matter of getting muscle memory back to going after pitches instead of letting them get on you," Reimold said. "There's just one little movement that I do that I want to get rid of and it's preventing me from hitting the ball. It's a matter of working out some kinks that you develop with some time off."

Reimold was sent home early on Monday because of food poisoning. He blamed it on a bad breakfast meal.

Nolan Reimold was sent home from Orioles camp on Monday morning because of food poisoning.
Reimold should be fully recovered within a couple of days. The 30-year-old outfielder has been hampered by injuries throughout his career and is hoping to finally carve out an established role this year with the O's.

Nolan Reimold acknowledged Saturday that he's the healthiest that he's felt since before his injury in 2002, and that he'll report to spring training without any restrictions.
Reimold has proven to be a capable offensive performer when he's on the field, but avoiding the disabled list has proven to be a mighty challenge the past few seasons. Provided he can stay healthy, he should see regular playing time in left field and could be an interesting option in the later rounds of mixed league drafts.

Nolan Reimold (neck) was cleared for full baseball activities around Christmas.
Reimold underwent a second surgery last July to fuse two vertebrae in his spine, but he said he currently feels better than he has in years. "I'm excited to feel like I can be good again," said Reimold. The 30-year-old should get a chance to carve out a significant role with the Orioles this season, but he will have to earn his way back on the fantasy radar.

Orioles general manager Dan Duquette indicated Friday that the team could fill their void in left field with an in-house option as opposed to through free agency or trade.
Duquette mentioned Nolan Reimold, Steve Pearce, Francisco Peguero and Henry Urrutia as the potential options to fill that vacancy. Of that quartet, Reimold and Urrutia have the most upside from a fantasy perspective, and each could be worth a speculative look later in drafts.

Orioles and OF Nolan Reimold avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.025 million contract.
Reimold batted only .195/.250/.336 while being limited to 40 games in 2013 due to injury. He had a second surgery on his neck in July but is expected to be ready for the start of spring training. Despite a lengthy injury history and inconsistent production, the O's were ready to give up on him.

Nolan Reimold (back, neck) expects to be fully healthy by the start of spring training next February.
Reimold underwent surgery in July to fuse two vertebrae in his spine. "I still have four more months," he told MASN on Sunday. "I had all the extra things done during surgery, which helped, obviously, to heal it a lot faster. It's just a matter of doing my rehab." Because of the injury and his poor recent production, Reimold is a non-tender candidate this winter.
