Bitsko (shoulder) gave up three earned runs on two hits and two walks while striking out one in 1.2 innings in his pro debut for the Florida Complex League Rays.
EDGE Analysis
One of the most talented prep righties to come through the draft in recent years, Bitsko underwent labrum surgery in December of 2020 and had not pitched professionally until this week. If he can get on track, he could be a big riser on prospect lists this summer.

Bitsko underwent right shoulder surgery Tuesday to address a labrum injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 24th overall pick of the 2020 draft will miss at least part of the 2021 campaign, but he won't have an official recovery timeline until he gets into his rehab work later on. The 18-year-old took part in a throwing program after the draft in June with the absence of a minor-league season. Bitsko wasn't likely to see the majors in his first professional season regardless, but his pro debut will have to wait a bit longer due to the procedure.

Bitsko, the 24th overall pick in the 2020 first-year player draft, signed for a $3 million bonus Tuesday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
EDGE Analysis
The deal was for slightly above the $2.8 million slot value, making it a particularly successful transaction for the 18-year-old. Bitsko immediately met with Rays director of pitching development Dewey Robinson to structure a throwing program he can begin implementing in the expected absence of a 2020 minor-league campaign. Bitsko, who already boasts a high 90s fastball and imposing 6-foot-4, 220-pound frame, confirmed he'd cut back on his throwing leading up to the draft, but he'll likely be ramping things up now that he's got some long-term security.
