Eovaldi will have his scheduled start Friday against the Indians skipped and serve in a bullpen role through the All-Star break, Brendan Kuty of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Though the move seems to suggest Eovaldi's rotation spot is being put on notice, manager Joe Girardi acknowledged that it was just a temporary arrangement, and that Eovaldi is still being viewed in the organization as a starter long term. Even if that's true, he still doesn't make for an appealing fantasy option at present, as he's surrendered at least four earned runs in each of his last six starts, while failing to go more than six innings in any of those contests. Outside of deeper leagues, it's unlikely many fantasy owners would have wanted to keep him active anyway for a matchup with the red-hot Indians lineup, but Eovaldi should have a better chance at delivering strong ratios during his run in the bullpen this week thanks to his premium fastball, a pitch that will likely play up in relief.

Eovaldi (6-6) lasted just 4.1 innings Friday, allowing six runs on seven hits in the loss to the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
The long ball continued to plague Eovaldi, as he served up two more Friday to bring his year-long total to a whopping 19 home runs allowed. He's now allowed at least four runs (and one home run) without going deeper than six innings in six consecutive starts, ballooning his ERA to 5.54 in the process.

Eovaldi (6-5) couldn't keep the ball in the yard Sunday, giving up five runs on six hits (including four homers) and three walks over six innings in a loss to the Twins. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
That puts a brutal June in the books for Eovaldi, who served up 10 homers across five starts and 26 innings to come away with a 8.65 ERA and a weak 17:9 K:BB on the month. He'll be in a decent spot to begin July with a better result though, as he takes the mound in San Diego on Friday.

Eovaldi allowed four runs on six hits and two walks across 5.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Twins. He struck out two as he fell to 6-4.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi allowed just a solo home run heading into the sixth inning, but he was chased from the game after allowing three men to reach with just one out, all of whom eventually came around to score versus the bullpen. While Sunday's outing wasn't as bad as it appears on paper, Eovaldi has still compiled an ERA of exactly nine in over his last four starts and hasn't last longer than 5.1 innings in any of the four. He will look to turn things around next Sunday versus the same Minnesota squad at home.

Eovaldi (6-3) took the loss Tuesday, allowing six runs over four innings against the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
The struggles continue for Eovaldi, as he's now given up at least five fives and eight hits in three straight outings. The longball has been an issue during this recent stretch, with the 26-year-old yielding five home runs in his last three starts. It seemed as though Eovaldi had gotten on track after a strong May, but he'll look to right the ship once again in his next start Sunday against the Twins.

Eovaldi (6-2) pitched 5.1 innings, giving up five runs, 10 hits and a walk while striking out in a no-decision Wednesday against the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
After a ridiculous stretch from April 25 to May 29 in which the right-hander went 5-0, Eovaldi has turned in two ugly performances to begin June. A major red flag concerning the Yankee faithful is Eovaldi's 1.3 HR/9, especially considering one of his strengths throughout his career has been the ability to limit home runs. Eovaldi's ERA ballooned to 4.42 and his WHIP to 1.28, both of which put him back in line with his career numbers.

Eovaldi improved to 6-2 with a win over the Rays on Sunday, allowing one run on six hits and two walks, striking out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi improved his ratios to a 3.71 ERA and 1.17 WHIP. Meanwhile his opposing number Jake Odorizzi allowed just one hit, but it was a two-run homer by Starlin Castro, enough to get Eovaldi the win.

Eovaldi (5-2) limited the Blue Jays to two hits and three walks over six innings while striking out five batters in Tuesday's 6-0 win.
EDGE Analysis
The only two hits Eovaldi surrendered were singles, as the Blue Jays struggled to catch up to his premium velocity. The three walks tied a season high for Eovaldi, but he's been a much better job of limiting his free passes compared to last season. His walk rate sits at a respectable 5.9 percent over his 54.2 innings.

Eovaldi (4-2) turned in a great performance in Wednesday's win against the Diamondbacks. He pitched six innings, allowing just one run, one hit and no walks while striking out five.
EDGE Analysis
Eovaldi had his good stuff working as he was in command of the Arizona lineup. After giving up a freakishly-weird leadoff double, Eovaldi retired the next 18 straight before yielding to the bullpen in the seventh after throwing 85 pitches. It was a little strange that manager Joe Giradi didn't let the right-hander go back out there for the seventh, and Eovaldi admitted he was disappointed with that decision. Not to take anything away from the starter, but the Yankees have a deadly combination of relievers for the seventh, eighth and ninth, and the decision to remove Eovaldi was nothing personal.

Eovoldi (3-2) picked up the win Thursday against the Royals, allowing three runs, eight hits and two walks while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
"I felt really good out there," Eovaldi said. "I felt I got hit around when I was ahead in the counts tonight, but overall I'm really pleased with the outing. I thought our guys did a great job offensively and on defense." Eovaldi sounds unusually encouraged despite failing to notch a quality start for the fourth time this season while seeing his ERA rise to 4.85. Maybe it's because he's fallen victim to some bad luck with a .332 BABIP, or because his 8.44 K/9 is a career best. Whatever the case, Eovaldi will look to build off this one when he takes the hill next against the Diamonds in Arizona on Tuesday.
