Wright was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday, Rich Dubroff of CSN Baltimore reports. He was brought back to replace Miguel Gonzalez (groin) on the active roster and could start Sunday in place of Gonzalez, but only if he isn't needed in relief in the coming days. Wright allowed four homers in four starts for Baltimore earlier this season but limited the total damage to eight runs in 24.1 innings (2.96 ERA, 1.03 WHIP).

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday. With Matt Wieters and Cesar Cabral joining the Orioles, Wright was sent down to make room on the 25-man roster. In six starts at Triple-A this season, Wright has posted a 2.64 ERA with nine walks and 30 strikeouts across 30.2 cumulative innings.

Wright gave up five earned runs on eight hits and one walk with four strikeouts over five innings Tuesday against the Astros and took his first loss of the season. It is a testament to how good Wright had been prior to Tuesday's game that his ERA still sits below 3.00 (2.96) on the season. However, there was no doubt that Wright had been pitching over his head, so it only makes sense that his numbers were due for some correction. It is unclear how long Wright will be able to stick in the Orioles' rotation, but with Bud Norris possibly slotting into the rotation Sunday, Wright could soon find himself on the outside looking in.

Wright (2-0) gave up three runs on six hits over five innings against the White Sox, but picked up the win in the second half of Thursday's doubleheader. Wright wasn't nearly as impressive in this one as he had been in his first two outings, as he was tagged for homers by Adam Eaton and Adam LaRoche to give up his first runs of the season. However, he didn't walk anyone for the second time in his three starts and appears to be establishing himself as a reliable member of the Baltimore rotation.

Wright went seven scoreless innings Saturday, allowing just three hits and three walks in a 1-0 extra-inning loss to the Marlins. Two starts into his career as a big-league starter, Wright's got a pair of seven-inning scoreless outings, and he's only allowed seven hits in that span while posting a 10:3 K:BB. He's well on his way toward earning a permanent rotation spot, and will look to continue that quest Thursday against the White Sox.

Wright will make his major league debut starting Sunday against the Angels, Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun reports. Wright has been great in six stats with Triple-A Norfolk this season, allowing six runs over 30.2 innings while striking out 30. He'll face a tough test in his first major-league start, squaring off against a solid Angels lineup.

Wright has been recalled by the Orioles, MASN's Roch Kubatko reports. The O's needed a replacement for right-hander Jason Garcia (15-day DL, shoulder). Wright should be available as a multiple-inning reliever for Baltimore after making six starts at Triple-A Norfolk to begin the season. Thus far, he's pitched well, carrying a 30:9 K:BB over 30.2 innings along with a .227 BAA and 2.64 ERA (3-0 record) with the Tides.

Wright was optioned to Triple-A Norfolk on Friday, CSN Baltimore reports. Wright will begin the season in the minors, but he'll almost certainly return to the major leagues at some point in 2015. Manager Buck Showalter said he was satisfied with what Wright showed during spring training. "He's presented himself as a viable option for us in two different roles," Showalter said. "He continues to make strides. He's impressive. Kind of followed where he was when [last] season ended. We know what his last two or three starts were like at the end of the year."

Wright could be the first starter called up from Triple-A when the Orioles need another starter, depending on whether the team uses a current starter in long relief, MASN Sports reports. If Kevin Gausman, Ubaldo Jimenez, or Miguel Gonzalez becomes the long relief man, Wright could be next on the depth chart. There is a legitimate opportunity this could happen. Wright made 26 starts at Triple-A in 2014, where the 25-year-old had a 4.61 ERA and a 1.40 WHIP. The Orioles are short on starting pitching depth, so Wright is in the mix despite his mediocre numbers. T.J. McFarland should also be a possibility as a deep starting option.
