Tauchman's chances of cracking the Opening Day roster decreased following the Rockies' acquisition of Carlos Gonzalez, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tauchman was initially in the mix for a starting gig with a few other Rockies prospects and Gerardo Parra, but the addition of Gonzalez likely leaves Tauchman in a fight for a fifth outfielder role. The 27-year-old is having a good spring, batting .293 with a homer and five RBI in 41 at-bats. Tauchman also has a selling point of a unique power/speed combo (16 homers and steals at Triple-A last season), but he also has two options remaining and lacks the prospect pedigree of fellow competitors David Dahl and Raimel Tapia.

Tauchman is in the running to be a backup outfielder for the Rockies to start the season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old demolished Triple-A pitching last season to the tune of a .941 OPS. He struggled a bit against major-league pitching, but his intriguing power/speed combo give him a decent shot to crack the Opening Day roster. The biggest hurdle will be overcoming the other competitors for the job, as David Dahl and Raimel Tapia offer similar skills with more pedigree and upside. An injury could make these facts a moot point, but Tauchman certainly has the skillset and the results to spend some time in the big leagues at some point during 2018 even if he isn't there on Opening Day.

Tauchman went 4-for-16 with two runs scored and an RBI in the month of September.
EDGE Analysis
Tauchman saw little playing time due to the Rockies' position in the standings, but there's still reason to see some hope for him. He produced 16 home runs and a .941 OPS in 420 at-bats at Triple-A this season, so he certainly warrants a look if he can carve out some playing time. Carlos Gonzalez's potential departure in free agency could open up a spot for him in the big leagues, but the presence of Ian Desmond, Gerardo Parra and Raimel Tapia as other options for the corner outfield positions cloud his outlook for 2018. Spring training will hopefully clear things up on this front.

Tauchman was called up by the Rockies on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Tauchman joins the wave of September call-ups for the Rockies, and figures to serve as another body in the outfield over the next month. During 10 appearances with the big-league club this season, Tauchman has slashed .182/.400/.182 with one RBI.

Tauchman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The Rockies will swap out Tauchman with another outfielder in Raimel Tapia, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move. During his second stint with the big club of the season, Tauchman appeared in three games, going 0-for-2 with a walk and two strikeouts.

Tauchman was recalled from Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Tauchman, a 10th-round pick in 2013, has put together an excellent season at Albuquerque, slashing .332/.389/.566 with 16 homers and 16 stolen bases. It's important to keep in mind, however, that the hitting environments in the Pacific Coast League are extremely favorable, and without an injury to a starting outfielder, his opportunities will likely be sporadic. Tauchman is on the bench for Friday's game.

Tauchman was optioned to Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, Jenny Cavnar of Root Sports Rocky Mountain reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tauchman had been playing relatively little, and with Gerardo Parra returning from the disabled list, there was simply no room in the big leagues for more outfield depth. Tauchman will likely spend more time developing at Triple-A until another injury crops up in the big leagues.

Tauchman had his contract purchased from Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
With Carlos Gonzalez (shoulder) and Gerardo Parra (quad) both on the disabled list, Tauchman was added to the roster to provide some outfield depth. The 26-year-old is slashing .313/.377/.529 with 10 homers and 11 stolen bases in 70 games with Albuquerque this season.

Tauchman received an invite to spring training Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Now 26, Tauchman has provided an average of .280 or better in all five of his minor league seasons, including a 2016 season where he slashed .286/.342/.373 in 527 plate appearances over 129 games with Triple-A Albuquerque. He also added 23 stolen bases, though he was also caught 10 times. He may not make the major league roster out of spring training, but another strong Triple-A showing out of the gate would bode well for his first call to the majors.
