However, strikeouts continue be a persistent issue, as the veteran has now whiffed at least once in eight straight games, with multiple-strikeout outings in four of those contests.

Manager John Gibbons said he's going to try a platoon system at leadoff. Kevin Pillar will hit first against lefties while Saunders will fill the role against right-handers, the Toronto Sun reports.

Hitting in the leadoff spot in a stat-boosting slot that Saunders has excelled in. Saunders' value will certainly take a hit on the days he bats sixth or seventh. Luckily for his owners, Saunders will get a majority of the work atop the order since he will hit first against righties.
