Pineda was suspended 60 games Saturday for taking a banned substance, Jeff Passan of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was originally hit with an 80-game ban, though the sentence was reduced on appeal after he made a compelling case that the banned diuretic found in his system was not being used as a masking agent for a performance-enhancing drug. The failed test still casts a bit of doubt on the validity of his solid 4.01 ERA in his first season back from Tommy John surgery, his best showing in that category since 2014. Pineda will miss the rest of this season and the playoffs as well as the first month and change of the 2020 campaign.

Pineda allowed one run on four hits and a pair of walks while striking out 10 over six innings, but settled for a no-decision Friday versus the Indians.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda was very effective in this start, tallying double-digit strikeouts for the first time this season. The only damage on his line came from a Francisco Lindor solo shot in the third inning. Pineda lowered his ERA to 4.01 with a 1.16 WHIP and 140:28 K:BB in 146 innings spanning 26 starts. Pineda will take the hill against the Nationals in Thursday's interleague matchup.

Pineda (11-5) punched out nine with one walk and five hits while allowing two runs across six innings to earn a victory against the Tigers on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
The 30-year-old has been racking up the wins and strikeouts lately. He's won five of his last six outings, and over his most recent two starts, Pineda has 17 strikeouts in 11 frames. Pineda is 11-5 with a 4.11 ERA, 1.16 WHIP and 130 strikeouts in 140 innings this season. He will start next in a key matchup against the Indians at home Friday.

Pineda (10-5) picked up the win in Tuesday's 3-1 victory over the White Sox, giving up one run on four hits and a walk over five innings while striking out eight.
EDGE Analysis
A Tim Anderson solo shot in the fourth inning was the right-hander's only real mistake -- all the other Chicago hits were singles -- but Pineda still barely lasted long enough to qualify for the win, needing 89 pitches (60 strikes) to complete five frames. He'll carry a 4.16 ERA and 121:25 K:BB through 134 innings into his next start Sunday in Detroit.

Pineda (9-5) earned the win against the White Sox on Tuesday, hurling seven innings and giving up four runs on six hits and no walks while striking out four.
EDGE Analysis
Three of the four runs scored against Pineda came via home run, but the 30-year-old otherwise limited the damage against him by giving up only six hits and not issuing a walk. He was efficient in needing only 88 pitches to complete seven innings and was frequently ahead in the count, tossing first-pitch strikes to 21 of 26 hitters. Pineda owns a 4.26 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 113:24 K:BB in 129 innings this season and will face the White Sox again -- this time in Chicago -- when he makes his next scheduled start Tuesday.

Pineda (8-5) picked up the win against Texas on Thursday, pitching five innings and giving up three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Pineda had been sidelined since Aug. 3 with a triceps strain but was solid in his return, picking up his eighth win to keep Minnesota narrowly atop the AL Central. All three runs against Pineda came in the fifth inning after the Twins had established an 11-run lead, and he gave way to Devin Smeltzer in the sixth having thrown 86 pitches (55 for strikes). The 30-year-old now carries a 4.20 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 109:24 K:BB in 122 innings this season and will face the White Sox on Tuesday in his next scheduled start.

Pineda (triceps) was activated from the 10-day injured list Thursday ahead of his scheduled start against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
As expected, Pineda will rejoin Minnesota's rotation after a brief stay on the injured list with a right triceps strain. The 30-year-old right-hander posted a 2.59 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 19:7 K:BB in four second-half starts (24.1 innings) prior to landing on the shelf. Randy Dobnak was sent to the minors to free up a roster spot for Pineda.

The Twins will activate Pineda (triceps) from the 10-day injured list to start Thursday's game against the Rangers.
EDGE Analysis
Minnesota had been listing its starter for Thursday's series opener as "to be announced" this week, but Pineda will receive clearance to re-enter the rotation after coming out of his recent throwing sessions OK. Before being shut down with the right triceps strain two weeks ago, Pineda had been dialed in on the mound, posting a 2.72 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 50:12 K:BB in 53 innings over his prior nine starts. Pineda's return will likely result in Devin Smeltzer moving into the bullpen or receiving a demotion to Triple-A Rochester.

Pineda (triceps) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marks the first significant progress Pineda has made since being placed on the injured list last Saturday. Assuming there are no reported setbacks, he could return to the mound later this week.

Pineda's triceps strain that sent him to the injured list Saturday is not expected to be a long-term problem, Betsy Helfand of the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Rocco Baldelli described the issue as "an odd, slightly uncomfortable feeling." Pineda will miss at least one turn in the rotation, though his exact timeline remains unclear.
