Mariners acquired 1B/OF Michael Morse from the Nationals in a three-team trade.
The deal, which will send John Jaso to Oakland and A.J. Cole, Blake Treinen and a player to be named later to Washington, is now official. Morse, of course, began his career with the Mariners and now will play every day at a corner outfield spot. The 30-year-old has batted .297/.343/.515 with 49 homers over the last two years for Washington.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi and Ken Rosenthal report that the Mariners are close to acquiring Michael Morse.
The Washington Post's Adam Kilgore says it's a three-team deal that will send A.J. Cole to the Nats and John Jaso to the A's. Morse, who is under contract for $6.75 million in 2013 before hitting free agency, became expendable after the Nats traded for Denard Span and re-signed Adam LaRoche. The 30-year-old has batted .297/.343/.515 with 49 homers over the last two years for Washington. He'll slide into a corner outfield spot.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that the Red Sox are one of the clubs that have spoken to the Nationals about Michael Morse.
He would be a backup plan in case the Mike Napoli deal falls through. Morse is being shopped by the Nats after they re-upped with Adam LaRoche, with Washington likely looking for a left-handed reliever and a prospect or two in return. The 30-year-old is under contract for $7 million in 2013 before hitting free agency next winter. The Rays, Yankees and Mariners are among a host of teams that are also interested in him.

Chad Jennings of the Journal News reports that the Yankees have "nothing alive" regarding a trade for Michael Morse of the Nationals.
The Yanks were mentioned as one of the "most active" teams on Morse earlier this week, but apparently they haven't made a compelling offer yet. Upwards of 10 other teams are reportedly interested, so the Nats won't have a problem finding a suitor if the Bombers aren't in.

According to FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal, Mike Morse "strongly opposes being a designated hitter."
That could present some complications in the Nationals' trade talks with American League clubs. Morse is almost certain to be dealt at some point before the start of the 2013 regular season because Adam LaRoche is now locked in at first base and the Washington outfield is filled. ESPN's Jim Bowden reported Tuesday that 10-11 clubs have already expressed interest.

Jim Bowden of ESPN.com and MLB Network Radio on Sirius XM reports that 10-11 teams are in on Michael Morse while the Yankees, Rays and Mariners have been the "most active."
None of the teams mentioned are a big surprise, as they have all been speculated and reported as potential fits. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reported earlier Tuesday that five or six teams were in the mix, but the list is growing by the minute. The Nationals should be able to fill a need or fetch a nice prospect or two.

Andrew Marchand of ESPN New York reports that the Yankees have interest in trading for Michael Morse of the Nationals.
The Nationals agreed to re-sign Adam LaRoche on Tuesday, so they are now fielding offers for Morse. The 29-year-old would be a good fit with the Yankees, as he could help balance their all lefty-hitting outfield and also get at-bats out of the DH spot. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal hears that the Nats are talking with five to six teams.

FOX Sports' Jon Paul Morosi reports that the Orioles have interest in trading for Michael Morse.
The Orioles like the flexibility Morse would bring, as they could use him in left field or at first base. While Morse is a popular trade target right now, it's unlikely the Nats will deal him unless they are able to re-sign Adam LaRoche. Morse is set to earn $6.75 million in 2013 before hitting free agency.
