Schrock was dealt to St. Louis, alongside Yairo Munoz, in exchange for Stephen Piscotty, MLB.com's Jane Lee reports.
EDGE Analysis
Schrock started the 2017 campaign off a little slow at the Double-A level, but really turned it on over the last few months to finish the year hitting .321/.379/.422 with seven home runs and 46 RBI. The 23-year-old is a well-rounded second baseman, and although he isn't a power hitter by any means, the 5-foot-8 Schrock has shown the ability to hit extremely well. His strikeout rate is minuscule, as Schrock recorded just 42 strikeouts to 34 walks during 106 games, which was one of the top marks in the Texas League this season. The infielder could return to the Double-A level within the Cardinals' system at the beginning of the 2018 season, but it wouldn't come as a surprise to see him hitting for a solid average with Triple-A Memphis by the end of the year.

Schrock went 5-for-7 with a home run, two walks and five RBI while playing in both halves of a doubleheader for Double-A Midland on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Schrock struggled to adjust to Double-A pitching in April with a .228 average, but he's been on fire at the dish since then, amassing a .348/.406/.466 line over the last two-plus months. Though he's not particularly toolsy, Schrock's contact-hitting skills are matched by few in the minors, with his 9.4 strikeout rate ranking as the second-best mark among qualified hitters in the Texas League. The 22-year-old has been a nice value pickup for the Athletics, who acquired him from the Nationals last summer in exchange for lefty reliever Marc Rzepczynski, who was in the final year of his contract.

Schrock is slashing .219/.286/.219 across 35 plate appearances with Double-A Midland.
EDGE Analysis
At 5-foot-8 and 180 pounds, Schrock doesn't have the body type that scouts salivate over, but the 22-year-old has steadily risen through the Nationals and Athletics minor-league systems thanks to his steady contact hitting. While he's gotten off to a slow start to begin the current campaign, Schrock has been victimized by a .241 BABIP. Expect Schrock's batting average to recover before long, though it likely won't be accompanied by much pop.

Schrock went 3-for-5 with a two-run double, another two-bagger and two runs in Saturday's 11-1 Cactus League win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old came over as a loaner from minor-league camp and excelled once again, bringing his spring average to .381 over 21 spring at-bats. Schrock had also gone 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs on March 23 against this same Brewers squad. The second baseman slashed .391/.375/.435 with a double, three RBI and three runs in a brief stint at Double-A Midland last season.
