Scherzer is scheduled to start Wednesday's series finale with the Yankees at Citi Field, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets elected to adjust reorder their rotation following Monday's off day, so Scherzer will remain on four days' rest and take the hill Wednesday for what would have been David Peterson's day to pitch. Though Scherzer will miss out on a more favorable matchup this weekend in Miami, fantasy managers were already likely keeping the three-time Cy Young Award winner active regardless of his opponent. He enters Wednesday's contest with a 2.28 ERA, 0.89 WHIP and 98:13 K:BB across 75 innings on the season.

Scherzer (6-2) took the loss Friday, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings as the Mets fell 4-1 to the Padres. He struck out eight.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander made only one real mistake in his pitchers' duel with Yu Darvish, but Eric Hosmer took it the other way for a two-run home run and the Mets' offense couldn't come up with a response. Scherzer has now reeled off four straight quality starts since coming off the IL at the beginning of the month, posting a 1.78 ERA, 0.79 WHIP and eye-popping 39:2 K:BB through 25.1 innings over that stretch.

Scherzer allowed two runs on eight hits and a walk with 11 strikeouts in 6.1 innings in a no-decision versus the Cubs in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
EDGE Analysis
This was Scherzer's worst of three starts since returning from an oblique strain. The eight hits were a little concerning, but he was able to mitigate the damage well. He's racked up 31 strikeouts in 19.1 innings since his return, and he's allowed two or fewer runs in eight of his 11 starts this year. The star right-hander closes the first half of the campaign with a 2.22 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 90:12 K:BB in 69 innings.

Scherzer (6-1) picked up the win Monday, allowing one run on three hits over seven innings in a 4-1 victory over Atlanta. He struck out nine without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
It was a vintage Scherzer performance, as the right-hander piled up 21 swinging strikes among his 93 pitches while taking a shutout into the seventh inning before Austin Riley broke it up with a solo shot. Scherzer has been on fire since coming off the injured list, posting a 20:0 K:BB over two starts, and on the season he boasts a 2.15 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 79:11 K:BB in 62.2 innings.

Scherzer didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Reds, scattering two hits over six scoreless innings. He struck out 11 without walking a batter.
EDGE Analysis
Making his first start since May 18 due to an oblique strain, Scherzer took out his pent-up frustrations on Cincinnati hitters, setting a new season high in Ks while firing 57 of 79 pitches for strikes, including 15 swinging strikes. Unfortunately for the right-hander, the Mets' offense didn't show up to support him. His return comes just in time for a tattered New York rotation that's missing five other potential members at the moment, including Jacob deGrom (shoulder), Tylor Megill (shoulder) and Chris Bassitt (COVID-19), and Scherzer will take a 2.26 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 70:11 K:BB through 55.2 innings into his next outing.

The Mets reinstated Scherzer (oblique) from the 15-day injured list in advance of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Reds, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Reliever Chasen Shreve was designated for assignment to clear space on the 26-man active roster for Scherzer, who was sidelined for just over six weeks with a strained left oblique muscle. The right-hander completed two minor-league rehab starts prior to being activated and is targeting around six innings or 90 pitches in his return to the big-league rotation Tuesday. If all goes well, Scherzer will line up to make his second start of the week against the Marlins on Sunday, when he shouldn't face any restrictions.

Scherzer (oblique) will be activated from the 15-day injured list Tuesday and start that night against the Reds, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
Scherzer will return to the team after being away while nursing an oblique strain that he suffered May 18. He's hoping to toss about 90 pitches over six innings when he returns to the mound Tuesday. The 37-year-old surrendered four runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out 14 over eight innings in two rehab starts with Double-A Binghamton. Prior to the injury, Scherzer had produced a 2.54 ERA and 0.95 WHIP with a 10.7 K/9 over 49.2 frames in eight starts.

Scherzer (oblique) is now scheduled to make his next rehab start Wednesday for Double-A Binghamton rather than Tuesday as originally planned, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Provided the change in Scherzer's schedule wasn't the result of a physical setback, having his rehab outing pushed back a day won't have any major ramifications on his rest-of-season outlook. However, the adjustment will presumably take Scherzer out of the mix from returning from the 15-day injured list to start Sunday's series finale versus the Rangers. As long as Scherzer pitches for Binghamton on Wednesday and checks out fine following the outing, he'll tentatively line up to come off the IL and make a start in Cincinnati on Independence Day.

Scherzer (oblique) is scheduled to make his second rehab start Tuesday with Double-A Binghamton, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran right-hander was previously optimistic that he would need just one rehab start before coming off the 15-day injured list, but the Mets opted to schedule him for another outing in the minors after he didn't get fully stretched out in his initial outing with Binghamton. In his start June 21, Scherzer struck out six over 3.1 innings (65 pitches) while giving up two runs on three hits and one walk. He'll presumably target the 70-to-85-pitch range Tuesday, and if all goes well, he should return from the IL as soon as July 3 to start the Mets' series finale with the Rangers.

Scherzer (oblique) expects to make a rehab start Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Mets were optimistic that Scherzer would be able to return to major-league game action this weekend, but he'll ultimately require at least one more appearance in the minors prior to being activated. The right-hander isn't yet sure which minor-league affiliate he'll join next week, but it's certainly possible that he'll be cleared to return from the injured list next weekend.
