Moroff landed on the minor-league injured list at Triple-A Columbus with a strained left scapula Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff was designated for assignment in early May after hitting just .125/.176/.250 in 35 big-league plate appearances. The injury means he's one step further from returning to the big leagues.

Moroff cleared waivers Saturday and was outrighted to Triple-A Columbus, Paul Hoynes of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
EDGE Analysis
It's not particularly surprising that Moroff passed through waivers unclaimed, as he owns a career .183/.277/.319 slash line in 104 major-league games. He'll serve as organizational depth for the Indians moving forward.

The Indians designated Moroff for assignment Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff had seen somewhat steady action in the first few weeks of the season when Jason Kipnis and Francisco Lindor were on the injured list, but his opportunities have dwindled since both players were reinstated to the active roster. The infielder had logged just three at-bats since April 20 and was deemed expendable with the Tribe needing to free up a roster spot for Sunday's starting pitcher, Cody Anderson, who was recalled from Triple-A Columbus in a corresponding move. Assuming none of the other 29 big-league teams put in a waiver claim for Moroff, he'll remain in the Cleveland organization and report to Columbus.

Moroff went 2-for-3 with a walk, a home run, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader with Atlanta.
EDGE Analysis
The Cleveland infield is healthy again with Jason Kipnis and now Francisco Lindor back in action, so Moroff -- who only had two hits and zero homers on the season coming into Saturday -- will be relegated to a bench role at best moving forward. Even in deep AL-only formats, there's little reason to keep him in an active lineup spot.

Moroff will start at second base and will bat eighth Wednesday against the Tigers.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff will draw his fifth start of the season as the occupant of the short side of a platoon at second base with the lefty-hitting Brad Miller. The lack of steady at-bats dampens Moroff's fantasy prospects enough as it is, but he hasn't helped his cause by getting off to a 2-for-18 start to the season while striking out in half of his plate appearances.

Moroff is in line to break camp with the Indians, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Indians announced Friday that Francisco Lindor (calf) and Jason Kipnis (calf) won't be ready for Opening Day, leaving Moroff and Eric Stamets (hip) to man the middle of the infield for the time being, barring a free agent signing. The 25-year-old, who owns a career .193/.293/.331 triple-slash across parts of three big-league seasons (84 games), figures to return to a utility role once Lindor and Kipnis are healthy.

Moroff went 1-for-3 with a three-run homer Wednesday against the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff's three-run shot off Brandon Brennan in the bottom of the seventh inning put the Indians up for good. The 25-year-old, who came over from the Pirates in an offseason trade, is competing for a utility role during camp.

The Pirates traded Moroff and Jordan Luplow to the Indians on Wednesday in exchange for Erik Gonzalez, Tahnaj Thomas and Dante Mendoza.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff spent most of the 2018 campaign at Triple-A Indianapolis, hitting .223/.334/.393 with eight home runs and 38 RBI in 74 games. He had a couple stints with the Pirates' big-league club but failed to cement any sort of everyday role with the team, instead serving as organizational depth around the infield. Expect to see the 25-year-old utilized in the same manner with Cleveland in 2019.

Moroff was sent down to Triple-A Indianapolis on Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Moroff has played in 26 games for the Pirates this year, during which he's slashed just .186/.284/.356 with three home runs and nine RBI. He will receive everyday at-bats with the Triple-A club moving forward.

Moroff went 1-for-3 with a solo home run Saturday during the Pirates' win in the second game of a doubleheader with the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
The third-inning blast was the only run allowed during an otherwise solid day by Brewers starter Brent Suter. Moroff pulled an offering down the left-field line and cleared the fence. He's hitting .185/.267/.370 in 60 plate appearances with the Bucs, however, and will keep a role as a mere fill-in/utility player as long as everyone's healthy.
