Olson (hand) hit soft toss Monday and will continue to do so for one week, at which point he'll be ready for a rehab assignment, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is more good news for Olson, who's on track to return in two weeks from hand surgery that took place March 22. Assuming he remains on schedule, Olson will spend around one week on a minor-league rehab stint prior to being activated from the injured list.

Olson (hand) is on track to return to the big-league lineup around May 5, Jim Bowden of The Athletic reports.
EDGE Analysis
On Sunday general manager David Forst said Olson was two weeks away, which would line him up to return late in the first week of May in Pittsburgh or early in the second week of May at home against the Reds. This is excellent news, as it originally seemed like Olson would be out through the end of May. It's a pain tolerance issue at this point, and he is using an axe-handle bat, which should ease the pain when he makes contact.

Olson (hand) took swings off a tee with his normal bat Friday, Matt Kawahara of The San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
This marks another small step forward for Olson, who had previously been taking swings with a fungo bat. Although this marks a small victory for the first baseman, he still has a long road ahead of him before returning from the injured list.

Olson (hand) took two-handed wings with a fungo bat before Tuesday's game, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
It was a momentous step in Olson's recovery from hand surgery, as it marked the first time he's taken full swings since the March 22 procedure. Olson will now progress to taking swings with a regular bat off a tee, and his ongoing progress is keeping his boss optimistic. "I think we're right on schedule with him," Melvin said. "I know he's pretty eager to face some pitching but it's going to be a little more time before we do that."

Olson (hand) took one-handed swings Thursday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
He has been taking grounders and doing cardio over the past week as well, but is not yet ready to take swings using his surgically repaired right hand. The first-base platoon of Kendrys Morales and Mark Canha will continue to operate for the next couple months while Olson is on the mend.

Olson (hand) took ground balls for the third time prior to Thursday's game, Gideon Rubin of The Associated Press reports.
EDGE Analysis
Olson continues to seemingly progress smoothly through his post-surgical rehabilitation. The slugging infielder is still weeks away from returning to action, and John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports Olson remained in the Bay Area to continue his recovery while the team departed for Houston to begin a 10-game road trip against the Astros, Orioles and Rangers.

Olson (hand) had his soft cast and stitches removed and said he feels good Tuesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
He was in good spirits, apparently firing up shots with a nerf basketball in the clubhouse using his surgically repaired right hand. Per the original timetable, Olson is roughly 5-to-7 weeks away from resuming normal activity -- it is largely a matter of pain tolerance.

The Athletics officially placed Olson (hand) on the 10-day injured list Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The transaction was merely a formality after Olson required surgery last week to repair the broken hamate bone in his right hand, which he suffered when he was hit by a pitch in Oakland's second game of the regular season. The Athletics have yet to offer a concrete timeline for Olson's return, but the expectation is that he'll be sidelined for at least a month or two. Jurickson Profar and Mark Canha are likely to serve as Oakland's primary first basemen while Olson is out.

Olson's surgery Friday was to repair a broken hamate bone, Andrew Simon of MLB.com reports. While there's no official timetable for his return, typically those injuries require 6-to-8 weeks off before the player can resume normal activity.
EDGE Analysis
Often hitters struggle to hit for power even after returning from these procedures, and in many other instances, there are setbacks in the recovery process. With such a long period of inactivity, Olson almost certainly is going to need a lengthy recovery period and subsequent rehab assignment.

Olson underwent successful surgery on his right hand Friday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Olson injured his hand during the team's opening series against the Mariners. The A's have yet to provide a timetable for Olson's return, though he figures to open the season on the IL, likely opening up an avenue to playing time for either Mark Canha or Chad Pinder.
