Harvey was sitting 92-93 mph with his fastball during Friday's Grapefruit League start and topped out at 94 mph, The New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
While those certainly aren't bad radar gun readings for the second week of March, they're a far cry from the 96 mph Harvey was averaging prior to undergoing surgery last July to correct his thoracic outlet syndrome. Given the limited, and discouraging, data on pitchers making full recoveries from that procedure, fantasy owners should be hesitant to pay full freight for the 27-year-old on the assumption that he will simply return to his previous form.

Harvey (neck) allowed a solo home run while striking out two batters and walking one in three innings Friday versus the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
The embattled starter was reportedly dealing with a lot of neck soreness in his previous spring start, but Friday's appearance quells any concerns of lingering effects from that issue. Harvey seems to be back to 100 percent and should be able to have a normal spring training from here out, although that could change quickly if his rough injury history is any indication.

Harvey (neck) pitched a bullpen session Wednesday and reportedly had no issues with his neck, Kristie Ackert of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Pitching coach Dan Warthen also thought the outing went well, and given the lack of pain in his neck, it appears that Harvey should be good to go for his scheduled appearance Friday. The Mets will likely be cautious with their injury-riddled starter moving forward, but it's good to see Harvey getting back into game action nonetheless.

Harvey said his neck felt better Monday, although it was still a little tight, and he has no intention of missing his next scheduled spring start Friday, The New York Daily News reports. "I should be good to go," Harvey said.
EDGE Analysis
The 27-year-old also noted that he needs to be cautious about overdoing things. "After you've had two surgeries you want to do everything you can to stay on the field and I think I've definitely realized that I need to put a lot more effort in before you go out there and just throw and just run," Harvey said. "You have to take care of your body better and I think that's definitely changed from this year since last." While his velocity was down Sunday, topping out at 94 mph, Harvey attributed that to some mechanical tweaks he needs to make, not the health of his arm or neck. Until he proves he can reach the high 90s again, though, any fantasy expectations for Harvey need to be kept in check.

Harvey wore a heating pad on his neck while pitching against the Cardinals on Sunday to alleviate stiffness that almost caused him to skip his start, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Harvey cruised through the first inning of his start, but fell apart in the second when he allowed four hits, including a home run. The news that he was suffering from a stiff neck could be a possible a explanation for why he seemed to fade as his start progressed. Assuming his neck stiffness is nothing serious, Harvey will look to continue knocking the rust off this spring, as he makes his way back from having his season cut short last July due to suffering from thoracic outlet syndrome.

Harvey (shoulder) is scheduled to make his Grapefruit League debut Sunday against the Cardinals, Marc Carig of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Harvey struggled mightily in 2016 before he was shut down for good in July after requiring thoracic outlet surgery, but the former staff ace progressed about as well as the Mets could have hoped throughout the offseason and entered spring training at full strength. Though spring-training stats are normally worth disregarding, those planning on investing in shares of Harvey will at least want to keep an eye on his velocity and command in Grapefruit League play in order to ascertain if the 27-year-old has returned to reasonable form. Even if he makes it through the spring unscathed, Harvey will still carry plenty of injury risk during the season, but his price may have dropped enough to make him worth the gamble in drafts and auctions.

Harvey (shoulder) said he feels great after going through a normal offseason, Matt Ehalt of The Record reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander underwent thoracic outlet surgery over the summer, but James Wagner of the New York Times adds that Harvey is able to throw a baseball effortlessly again, something he couldn't say last season. Harvey has been throwing since before Christmas, but he still carries a lot of risk heading into 2017 given his extensive injury history and his struggles during the 2016 campaign.

Harvey (shoulder) agreed to a one-year, $5.125 million deal with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, the New York Times' James Wagner reports.
EDGE Analysis
He can earn an extra $100,000 in performance bonuses. Harvey was throwing with no tingling in his fingers before Christmas, which is a good sign as he recovers from thoracic outlet syndrome. There is a ton of risk involved with that procedure, and success stories of other pitchers returning to peak form after the surgery are hard to find. That said, there will come a time in every draft where the reward outweighs the risk.

Harvey (shoulder) has been throwing and is no longer feeling tingling in his fingers, Newsday's Marc Carig reports.
EDGE Analysis
The expectation is that Harvey, who underwent thoracic outlet syndrome surgery in July, will be ready for spring training. This latest news is good to hear, but Harvey obviously still carries plenty of risk, considering the shoulder procedure, the Tommy John surgery on his resume and his general ineffectiveness in 2016 (4.86 ERA).

Harvey (shoulder) is expected to be ready for spring training, according to agent Scott Boras, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports.
EDGE Analysis
Harvey resumed throwing Monday, less than four months after having a rib removed to alleviate thoracic outlet syndrome. The 27-year-old struggled throughout the first three months of 2016, posting a 4.86 ERA and 1.47 WHIP before undergoing the procedure. The lost season and history of health issues figure to drive Harvey's cost down considerably in the spring.
