Williams (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day DL on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Williams is still recovering from August shoulder surgery and didn't participate in spring training, so he's likely a long way off joining the Yankees. He figures to stick around at extended spring training before rejoining one of the team's minor-league affiliates once he's cleared to play in games again.

Williams will start the season on the DL with a shoulder injury, The Westchester Journal News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams underwent shoulder surgery last August, and while he's been able to do some light hitting and throwing, it appears he remains a bit behind schedule in his recovery. The 24-year-old could see some time in the majors this season when healthy, but he'll most likely start the year at the Triple-A level.

Williams (shoulder) has been able to run and hit, but is still experiencing soreness when throwing, The Westchester Journal News reports.
Williams hit the disabled list with inflammation in his right shoulder, and has had trouble playing catch since suffering the injury. Manager Joe Girardi indicated it's not a major setback, but at this point it appears as though Williams may be sidelined a bit longer than previously expected.

Williams (shoulder) has been placed on the 15-day DL with right shoulder inflammation.
It was hoped that Williams would avoid a DL stint after his MRI cam back negative, but the Yankees must not have like what they saw. Since no medical procedure has been mentioned, it can be assumed Williams will simply get some rest and hopefully return near his first possible date on July 6. Ramon Flores has been called up to fill in for Williams.

Williams (shoulder) underwent an MRI and results came back negative, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.
Williams hopes to be back in the lineup in a few days. This means he will likely miss Sunday's series finale. Brett Gardner moved to center field and Chris Young took over left field in Saturday's game and would likely remain there if Williams continues to sit out.

Williams (shoulder) is out of the lineup Saturday against the Tigers.
A visit to the team doctor after Friday's game yielded a diagnosis of a jammed right shoulder for Williams, who suffered the injury diving back to first base. No further tests have been scheduled, which suggests Williams is merely day-to-day, but his status for Sunday's series finale is uncertain. Brett Gardner will move to center field Saturday as Chris Young takes over in left.

Williams was diagnosed with a jammed right shoulder following Friday's game, MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports.
Williams was examined by a team doctor, and no further tests are planned, which would seem to indicate Williams' setback is minor. His status for Saturday's game is uncertain, but if he is unable to go, Brett Gardner would likely slide over and cover center field, and Chris Young would likely take Garnder's place in left.

Williams was 1-for-2 with a two-run home run in his major league debut against Baltimore on Friday night.
It was an interesting night for Williams who struck out in his first at bat, and then lined a ball into the seats in straight-away right field in his next trip. He also misplayed a line drive to centerfield into a double in the next inning before being lifted for a pinch-hitter. The Yankees will take the opportunity to see how close he is to ready as they await the return of Jacoby Ellsbury.
