Williams (knee) took batting practice Friday and hopes to make his Grapefruit League debut next week, YES Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Inflammation in his patellar tendon has kept the 25-year-old out of commission so far this spring, but a return to the lineup seems to be on the horizon. Williams has an uphill climb ahead of him if he wants to make the major league roster (especially given his absence to start the spring), but he could push the envelope with a strong showing once he does return.

Williams has been dealing with patella tendon inflammation and has yet to play in a spring training game, Randy Miller of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The setback has already cost Williams two weeks, and while it's unclear when he'll be set to return to game action, he's expected to resume baseball activities in the coming days. The 25-year-old was a longshot to make the big league roster to begin with, and if he continues to miss a significant portion of the spring, it will likely result in the outfielder starting the year with the Triple-A club.

Williams is out of Thursday's lineup against the Rays, Mark Feinsand of the New York Daily News reports.
EDGE Analysis
Since being called up to the big club Aug. 14, Williams has gone 7-for-18 over seven games. He'll head to the bench Thursday, giving way to Aaron Hicks in right field.

Williams was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
This news comes as no surprise, as Williams is on the 40-man roster and Aaron Judge may miss the rest of the season with a strained oblique. Williams has struggled to stay healthy this season, and when he has been in the lineup at Triple-A he has offered excellent defense and an empty .296 batting average. Look for him to serve as a defensive replacement and occassional starter down the stretch.

Williams (quad) was activated from the DL at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Brendan Kuty of NJ.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
By successfully running the bases Thursday and Friday, Williams gained clearance to return after missing close to two weeks with the quad issue. Williams is on the 40-man roster and thus would seem in line for a September callup, but he missed the first three months of the year with a shoulder injury and may play primarily off the bench.

Williams (quad) was able to run the bases Thursday, LoHud.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams reported feeling good after the outing and was slated to run again Friday, but it's unclear if he followed through on that plan. The 24-year-old has been on the disabled list since the end of July, but if he's able to return in the coming weeks and get a few games under his belt at the Triple-A level, he could be considered for a September call-up to the majors.

Williams suffered a quad injury while playing for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Saturday, Brendan Kuty of the Newark Star-Ledger reports.
EDGE Analysis
Yankees GM Brian Cashman didn't have an idea when Williams might return from his injury, so it likely takes the 24-year-old out of the conversation for a promotion should any vacancies arise in the big club's outfield ranks. With a .275 on-base percentage over 52 plate appearances this season with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, Williams probably wasn't on the cusp of a call-up anyway.

Williams (shoulder) was officially reinstated from the 60-day DL and optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Monday, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Williams underwent season-ending shoulder surgery last August and is yet to see a single non-rehab at-bat in 2016. After spending a couple of weeks at Single-A Tampa, he'll now head to Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he'll have the opportunity to see regular at-bats before a potential return to the big leagues.

Williams (shoulder) has been on a rehab assignment, playing for the Gulf Coast League Yankees East and Single-A Tampa Yankees since July 2. During that span, Williams is hitting 5-29 (.172).
EDGE Analysis
Williams was transferred to the 60-day disabled list on May 14. If all continues to go well in his rehab, he should be back with the Yankees shortly after the All-Star break. Don't be surprised if the Yankees send him right down to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre to get more at-bats than he would see with the big league club.

Williams was transferred to the 60-day DL on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
This has nothing to do with Williams' recovery, as he was not expected to return until June at the earliest, but the Yankees needed to open up a spot on the 40-man roster for J.R. Graham, who they traded for on Saturday. Once Williams is activated, he will likely be optioned back to Triple-A.
