Trumbo hit his first home run of the year off Giants' ace Madison Bumgarner on Thursday in a 7-6 extra-innings win over the Giants. He scored once and had one RBI. Trumbo is having a decent start to the year hitting .278/.278/.500, so hopefully this homer gets him going and he pops a few more in the coming days. Surprisingly he hit two triples before his first big fly left the yard. Next up on the list of firsts this season for Trumbo: taking a walk.

Trumbo went 1-for-4 and drove in Arizona's only run Tuesday in a 5-1 loss to the Padres. Trumbo's hit, his first double of the season, came off of starter Odrisamer Despaigne who tied the D-Backs in knots for seven innings. With just three extra-base hits so far (and no home runs), Trumbo is experiencing an early-season power outage, but since there is no indication of injury just stay patient as the big hits are coming.

Trumbo went 2-for-4 with a run scored Monday in an 8-4 win over San Diego. Trumbo owners may not have paid for singles, but considering that San Diego was playing a significant shift against the slugger it is positive that he found ways to gets the hits anyway. Of more concern in the early going is that Trumbo has yet to hit a home run or draw a walk through 24 plate appearances. The power will come soon and showing a willingness to hit the ball away from defensive positioning may make pitchers more selective in how they approach the slugger, leading to more opportunities to get on base. Stay patient with Trumbo for now.

Trumbo is not in the Arizona lineup for Sunday's game against the Dodgers. This is Trumbo's first missed start of the season and he'll be replaced by Ender Inciarte in right field. The masher has yet to hit a home run and playing right field is still a work in progress, but he is tied for the lead in triples in the National League (with two).

Trumbo hit an RBI triple Monday in a 5-4 Opening Day loss to the Giants. Trumbo hit a ball just right of center that would have been a homerun in almost any other park, but bounced off of a balcony in Chase Field and allowed him to get all the way to third base. Perhaps just as interestingly, Trumbo made an error in right field. There is a lot of skepticism that he can handle the position and if the DBacks have to move him it could have domino effects through the rest of the lineup.

Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said Trumbo will bat cleanup against left-handed pitchers, MLB.com's Steve Gilbert reports. Hale said he wants to split up Trumbo and Paul Goldschmidt against right-handers, indicating that the former will bat either fifth or sixth, seeing as Goldy's a mainstay in the three-hole. While still lacking in other baseball skills, Trumbo is a good bet to revive his excellent power in 2015, coming off an injury-plagued 2014 campaign. He owns a .364/.404/.614 slash line this spring, albeit with a 10:1 K:BB over 44 at-bats.

Trumbo shed 10 pounds this offseason in addition to changing his workout regimen as part of a concerted effort to become a better defender, the Arizona Republic reports. Trumbo has reported feeling more mobile this spring, as he cut back on some of his upper body lifting in favor of increasing his leg work. The Diamondbacks are moving Trumbo from left field to right, where his arm enable him to make the switch with relative ease. In terms of range, it remains to be seen if the adjustments to his offseason workout plan will pay dividends.

Trumbo won his arbitration case and will make $6.9 million in 2015, Jon Heyman of CBS Sports reports.Trumbo was limited to just 88 games last season due to a stress fracture in his foot, and he wasn't all that effective in those 88 games (.235/.293/.415), but an arbiter decided the Diamondbacks' proposed $500,000 increase in salary was not sufficient. The 29-year-old Trumbo is believed to be fully healthy and is expected to open the year as the team's everyday right fielder.

Trumbo will play right field in 2015, GM Dave Stewart said Friday, Jack Magruder of FOXSportsArizona.com reports. The 28-year-old didn't make a single appearance in right field in 2014, and instead split time between first base and left field, but he will be the everyday guy in right to begin next season. Ender Inciarte and David Peralta will share time in left. A foot injury cost Trumbo a significant portion of time in his first season in Arizona, and he hit just .235/.293/.415 in 88 games, but the power is still there and the RBI production should be as well.

Trumbo went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBIs in the Diamondbacks' 5-2 win over the Cardinals on Saturday. Trumbo has now hit in six of eight games. Surprisingly, it's Trumbo's second multi-home run game in the last eight days. He now has 14 home runs on the year. However, after a strong August, Trumbo is batting just .234 in September.
