The Mets may be willing to offer Stroman a significant long-term contract offer before he hits free agency next offseason, Tim Britton of The Athletic suggests.
EDGE Analysis
When the team traded for the right-hander last year, the assumption was he would be a Met through 2020 before testing the free-agent waters, and that the team wouldn't do much to prevent him from walking. With Noah Syndergaard now needing Tommy John surgery, however, the Mets' pitching foundation for 2021 looks a lot shakier, and as a result Britton speculates that the team might pony up a contract offer large enough to get Stroman to forego free agency. The 28-year-old is coming off a solid second half and posted a 2.70 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 7:3 K:BB through six innings this spring, but Stroman's fantasy upside in New York would look a lot better if the team could find a way to improve its infield defense.

Stroman gave up one run on three hits in 1.1 innings during a split-squad game against the Cardinals on Saturday, Mike Puma of The New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander had an uneventful start to his spring training schedule. Stroman is locked into the No. 3 role in the Mets' rotation this season after posting a 3.77 ERA and 60:23 K:BB in 59.2 innings following last year's trade from the Blue Jays.

Stroman agreed to a one-year, $12 million contract with the Mets on Friday, avoiding arbitration, Jon Heyman of MLB Network reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman finished with a 3.22 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 159:58 K:BB over 184.1 frames in 2019 across stops with Toronto and New York. He'll slot in the near the middle of the Mets' rotation after avoiding an arbitration hearing.

Stroman (10-13) picked up the win after surrendering two runs on six hits and a walk while striking out eight over six innings Friday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman gave up two runs in the first inning, but he managed to settle down and close out his appearance with five scoreless frames on the way to a 4-2 victory. The 28-year-old will finish out the season with a 3.22 ERA and 1.31 WHIP with a 159:58 K:BB over 184.1 innings.

Stroman only pitched 4.2 innings Sunday and was supposedly dealing with nausea during his outing which could've explained his abbreviated start, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman was already at 86 pitches through just 4.2 innings pitched so he was bound to come out soon regardless of how he felt. The right-hander was dealing with some nausea and was unable to finish out the fifth inning against the Reds. The Mets' bullpen handled the work after Stroman very smoothly, allowing just three hits and one run through the remainder of the game. The 28-year-old is expected to make his final start of the season Friday at home versus the Braves.

Stroman's next start will be moved up to Sunday against Cincinnati, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman was initially slated to start Monday, but he'll switch spots with Steven Matz and will now toe the rubber Sunday instead against the Reds. Matz is slated to start Monday in the series opener with Miami as a result.

Stroman (9-13) got the win against the Rockies on Tuesday, scattering four hits across seven scoreless innings, striking out seven and walking one in the Mets' 6-1 victory.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman has been lights-out over his past two starts, with this outing leaving him with just one earned run over his last 13.1 innings. His 9-13 record is lackluster, but that isn't Stroman's fault, with the 28-year-old sporting excellent numbers on the season to the tune of a 3.21 ERA, 1.31 WHIP and 149:54 K:BB across 173.2 innings between the Blue Jays and Mets.

Stroman (8-13) allowed one run on four hits with four walks and six strikeouts across 6.1 innings while earning a victory against the Diamondbacks on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Four walks is obviously not ideal, but Stroman did bounce back in terms of giving up hard contact Thursday. In his last two starts, he had allowed 17 hits, including two homers, in 10 innings. This victory also gave Stroman his first win since Aug. 15. He is 8-13 with a 3.35 ERA, 1.34 WHIP and 142 strikeouts in 166.2 innings with the Blue Jays and Mets this season. Stroman is scheduled to pitch next at the Rockies on Tuesday.

Stroman (7-13) took the loss Saturday as the Mets fell 5-0 to the Phillies, giving up five runs (four earned) on 10 hits over four innings while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Only two of the hits -- a leadoff homer by Cesar Hernandez, and a fourth-inning double by Corey Dickerson -- went for extra bases while three of them never left the infield, but with the Mets' offense falling silent, Stroman had no margin for error. The right-hander now has a 1-2 record with a 5.05 ERA and 37:14 K:BB through 35.2 innings since the trade that brought him over from Toronto, and he'll look for a better result in his next start Thursday, at home against Arizona.

Stroman did not factor into the decision against Philadelphia on Sunday, completing six innings and giving up two runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out six.
EDGE Analysis
Stroman gave up a pair of runs in the second inning but quieted the Phillies the rest of the way, fanning six batters and tying a season high by inducing 18 swinging strikes. The 28-year-old has compiled a 4.55 ERA, 1.64 WHIP and 31:14 K:BB over 31.2 innings since joining the Mets at the trade deadline. His next scheduled start will come at home against the Phillies on Saturday.
