Pina is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
After catching the Brewers' last two contests, Pina will give way to fellow backstop Jett Bandy for Sunday's series finale against the Pirates. The two catchers will continue to split time behind the plate for the Brewers.

Pina is out of the lineup Sunday against the Braves.
EDGE Analysis
The Brewers continue to deploy a timeshare between their two high-performing catchers, but the distribution of starts has tilted in favor of Jett Bandy rather than Pina lately. Bandy will start for the third time in four games Sunday, relegating Pina to the bench. Until Bandy runs away with the job, however, it's probably best to keep holding Pina in deeper mixed leagues and NL-only formats.

Pina is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
Jett Bandy will take over behind the plate following three consecutive starts for Pina. While Pina went hitless in Tuesday's win, snapping a 10-game hitting streak, he did walk twice and score two runs. Pina is making contact at an outstanding clip and there's more power in his bat than he's shown (four homers during spring training). There's a growing case for Pina even in shallower formats.

Pina is not in the lineup Thursday against the Cardinals.
EDGE Analysis
Pina has been a force at the plate this season, collecting a hit in all but one of the games he's appeared in, but he'll head to the bench for another night off. Jett Bandy will assume catching duties for the evening.

Pina is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Pina and Jett Bandy have been alternating starts over the past week or so and have split the workload fairly evenly throughout the season (seven starts for Pina, now nine for Bandy). Carrying over the momentum from a hot spring, Pina has gone 13-for-30 with six doubles to begin 2017. Even in a limited role, he has appeal in two-catcher leagues.

Pina is not in the lineup for Milwaukee's game against the Cubs on Monday.
EDGE Analysis
In place of Pina, the Brewers will start Jett Bandy. The two Milwaukee catchers have been platooning all season, although Pina has received the higher amount of starts so far. The 29-year-old catcher has a good chance of being back behind the plate on Tuesday.

Pina will start at catcher and bat sixth in the order Sunday against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
It's the third start in four games for Pina, who has cut into Jett Bandy's workload behind the dish after going 5-for-9 with two RBI and three runs in the first two games of the series. The 29-year-old doesn't have much of a track record at the big-league level, but Pina turned some heads after slashing .329/.371/.506 at Triple-A Colorado Springs last season, so perhaps his early success in 2017 isn't a total fluke. Pina could warrant some attention in NL-only leagues or deeper mixed formats that start two catchers.

Pina has made the Brewers' Opening Day roster, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 29-year-old boasts a .405/.421/.757 line through his first 38 spring plate appearances. He might be in the lead for Milwaukee's backstop work, considering he appears to have clinched a spot before Jett Bandy and Andrew Susac. Still, Pina probably be involved in a near split duty with whichever one of the alternatives isn't sent to Triple-A Colorado Springs or elsewhere. Two-catcher fantasy players could get some use out of Pina, especially if his power boost turns out to be real, but likely will find his contributions fleeting.

Pina went 9-for-17 (.529) with three home runs, two doubles, and eight RBI over his last five spring games and now owns a 1.178 OPS during the exhibition season.
EDGE Analysis
Pina was seemingly a distant third in the competition for the Brewers' starting catcher spot entering spring training, but he has hit the ball far better than either of his counterparts -- Jett Bandy and Andrew Susac -- and has given himself a chance to snag the job. It's still unclear who will open the regular season as the top backstop, but at the least, Pina looks like a good bet to open the season on the major league roster while one of his fellow catchers heads to Triple-A in order to get regular at-bats.

Pina is 5-for-18 (.278) with two doubles and three RBI through eight spring games.
EDGE Analysis
Pina is competing against Jett Bandy and Andrew Susac this spring to earn a spot on the Brewers' Opening Day roster. It's unlikely that Pina will open the year as the team's top catcher with the Brewers likely to turn to one of the other two players -- both are younger and have more upside -- but he did post a respectable .740 OPS over 33 major league games last season, which could allow him to snag the backup job with the big club while one of the other two catchers heads to Triple-A to see regular at-bats.
