Smith is leading off Wednesday against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Nick Markakis is unavailable due to a family emergency, so the Braves will go with Chase d'Arnaud in right field, while Smith moves from ninth to first in the order. The 22-year-old Smith is hitting only .237 with eight RBI on the season but he's collected five hits over his last three games, including his first home run of the season Tuesday night.

Smith hit his first home run, a solo blast off Matt Harvey, in Tuesday's win over the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
Smith was off to an absolutely brutal start to the season until Atlanta bumped him down to ninth in the batting order in last week's interleague series against Boston. Since then, he has remained ninth in the order even against National League teams and is thriving, as Tuesday's 2-for-4 performance makes him 8-for-15 with four extra-base hits since the move was made. His batting line has improved from .136/.205/.240 to a respectable .237/.308/.390. Smith added his fourth stolen base in eight chances. Given his speed, Smith's hot bat should be watched closely.

Smith will continue to bat ninth in the Atlanta lineup whenever he is in the lineup, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
He hit ninth in Boston with the designated hitter Thursday, and then ninth again Sunday because Braves manager Fredi Gonzalez elected to bat pitcher Julio Teheran eighth versus the Cubs. In those two games, Smith went 6-for-8 (.750) with three doubles, two RBI and a stolen base. Before that, he was hitting .136 in 44 at-bats.

Smith went 3-for-4 Sunday with a run scored and his third stolen base of the season.
EDGE Analysis
Hitting out of the nine home again, Smith put together his second straight three-hit performance, but it's probably not enough to keep him in the majors when Ender Inciarte comes off the DL given his .231/.310/.346 slash line. The rebuilding Braves could elect to use Smith in left field, but the more likely scenario has him heading back to Triple-A for more development.

Smith is not in the lineup for Friday's game against the Cubs.
EDGE Analysis
Smith went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI in Thursday's game, but he will open on the bench Friday with Drew Stubbs drawing the start in center field in a righty-heavy lineup against Cubs southpaw Jon Lester. Smith and Stubbs will continue sharing the center field duties moving forward.

Smith is out of the lineup Wednesday against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will get a day off despite a right-hander being on the mound for the Red Sox, although his .136/.240/.205 slash line to start the season may be a reason why he's riding the pine Wednesday. Drew Stubbs will get the start in center field in his spot.

Smith will receive all of the starts in center field against right-handed pitching until Ender Inciarte returns from injury, David O'Brien of the Atlanta Journal Constitution reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will be in a platoon with Drew Stubbs, who will take on the starting role whenever a lefty is on the mound. The 22-year-old is hitting just .185 against right-handed pitching, but is still the best option for the Braves at this point in time.

Smith is not in the lineup Saturday against the Mets, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan in Atlanta reports.
EDGE Analysis
Smith will get the day off with lefty Steven Matz on the hill for New York after starting the last six games in center field. Drew Stubbs will get the nod Saturday, and he'll bat eighth in the order.

Smith will start in center field and bat eighth against the Dodgers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Make it four straight starts in the eight-hole for Smith since he sat against a lefty last Friday. Smith led off for a few games initially after getting the call, but struggled a bit with the pressures of setting the table (1-for-14). Manager Fredi Gonzalez suggested recently that Ender Inciarte (hamstring) may remain sidelined through the first week of May, so the door appears open for Smith to continue playing regularly for a couple more weeks at least.

Smith went 0-for-1 with a stolen base and a run scored off the bench Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Drew Stubbs took over in center field and Nick Markakis led off with lefty Wei-Yin Chen starting for the Marlins. Smith came off the bench to pinch run for Tyler Flowers in the eighth inning and swiped his second bag in four attempts, and then scored on a Markakis single. While the 22-year-old Smith started earlier this week against a lefty, the team may opt to limit his exposure to southpaws moving forward, but as he showed Friday, he can still be helpful when limited to bench duty.
