Weaver (2-1) allowed six earned runs on nine hits while walking one and striking out three across four innings to take the loss against the Cubs on Thursday.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver suffered through his worst start of the season but looked in control of his pitches, throwing 57 of his 85 pitches for strikes and generating 11 swinging strikes. The Cubs took advantage of the contact they did make, however, as they recorded a .500 BABIP against him with two hits going for extra bases. Despite this tough outing, Weaver has had a strong start to the season and he'll look to return to good form in his next start, likely to come on Wednesday against the Mets.

Weaver will start Thursday's makeup game against the Cubs after Wednesday's contest was postponed due to inclement weather, Carrie Muskat of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Heading into the week, Weaver had been lined up for a start Friday against the Reds, but manager Mike Matheny opted to flip the right-hander's spot in the pitching schedule with Michael Wacha, who was moved from Wednesday to Friday. Weaver will remain ahead of Wacha in the rotation order, but now benefits from five days' rest between starts on the heels of Wednesday's postponement. Jon Lester is slated to take the bump for the Cubs in the series finale.

Weaver won't start Wednesday against the Cubs after the game was postponed due to inclement weather in Chicago.
EDGE Analysis
Both the Cardinals and Cubs had mutual off days Thursday, so the two clubs will make up the postponed contest that day in a matinee. The Cardinals haven't officially revealed how Wednesday's postponement will affect their rotation plans, but it's expected that Weaver and the rest of the team's starters will simply be pushed back a day. Look for Weaver to oppose Jon Lester on Thursday.

Weaver's upcoming turn in the rotation was swapped with Michael Wacha's, and Weaver will therefore start Wednesday's game against the Cubs, Joe Trezza of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver was originally slated for some extra down time between starts this week, as he'd been scheduled to start Friday's game against the Reds. However, manager Mike Matheny has opted to keep Wacha out of Wrigley Field, where he's just 1-4 with a 5.98 ERA in eight career games. Meanwhile, despite the change, Weaver will still be pitching on a normal allotment of four days' rest.

Weaver went six innings in Friday's win over the Reds, giving up two runs on four hits while striking out seven and walking one.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver made it into the seventh having given up only two hits, but then surrendered a single to Scooter Gennett and a two-run shot to Devin Mesoraco before being lifted at 99 pitches. In each of Weaver's three starts he has pitched at least five innings while giving up no more than two runs, all while striking out 17 in 17.1 innings. He'll take his 2-0 record to the Cubs in a road matchup next week.

Weaver allowed one run on three hits and one walk while striking out seven across 6.1 innings Sunday against Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver didn't factor into the decision, as the Cardinals ended up losing their one-run lead in the seventh inning. He's had two stellar appearances to open the season, allowing two runs on eight hits and four walks over 11.1 innings. Weaver's next start should come Friday against the Reds.

Weaver (1-0) tossed five innings of one-run ball while earning the win Sunday against the Mets. He allowed five hits and three walks with three strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver put several men on base throughout the afternoon, but he was only touched for a single run as two men reached base in the second inning. He struggled to throw strikes at times, but he allowed just one extra-base hit and got some timely outs to minimize the damage. Weaver will look to build on a successful season debut Saturday against the Diamondbacks.

Weaver finished spring training with an 0.55 ERA over 16.2 innings after firing three scoreless innings in which he allowed a hit and a walk while also recording four strikeouts in an exhibition win over the Blue Jays on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Weaver finished spring with 11.1 scoreless innings over his last three appearances, a span during which he also racked up 14 strikeouts. Projected as the No. 3 starter to open the season, Weaver appears poised to considerably build on the 7-2 record, 3.88 ERA and 1.26 WHIP he generated in 2017 if his spring work is any indication.

Weaver's (2-0) spring ERA is down to 0.68 following a Saturday Grapefruit League outing against the Braves in which he struck out six over four scoreless innings while allowing one hit and three walks.
EDGE Analysis
He continues racking up the whiffs, as he's now set down 15 batters over 13.1 innings, recording no less than four strikeouts in any of his last three spring starts. Weaver's dominant Saturday performance saw him stretch out to 74 pitches, Ben Frederickson and Derrick Goold of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch report, and the only blemish during the outing was some location trouble. Weaver could only get 43 of his offerings into the strike zone, but it was the first time in four exhibition appearances that walks have been any kind of an issue. If his current form is any indication, Weaver looks set to considerably improve on the 7-2 record and 3.88 ERA he posted in his 13-appearance stint with the Cardinals in 2017.

Weaver tossed four perfect innings in the Cardinals' 4-3 win over the Nationals in Grapefruit League play. He struck out four batters in the outing.
EDGE Analysis
After excelling during a 10-start slate with the Cardinals last season, Weaver has only raised expectations since the spring began, with Sunday's scoreless outing dropping his ERA to 1.00 over nine innings. His latest start was rendered more impressive considering that Washington stocked its lineup with several mainstays, none of whom found much success against the right-hander. Weaver seems to be reaping the benefits of an offseason weight-training program that allowed him to add 15 pounds to his wiry frame, according to Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, easing some concern about the 24-year-old's ability to handle what will likely be a 150-plus-inning workload this season.
