Luke Scott returned to action on Tuesday June 21.

Luke Scott (back) is in the Orioles' starting lineup on Tuesday night against the Pirates. Scott sat out Sunday and Monday due to back pain. The 32-year-old is hitting .243/.320/.435 with eight home runs and 21 RBI in 54 games this season.

Luke Scott reported improvement with his back Sunday and hopes to return to the lineup Monday. Scott said it was "hard to move" Saturday, when he was taken out after one at-bat due to back spasms. But, he's feeling better and is shooting to be available Monday after a day of treatment. Felix Pie will handle left field Sunday.

Luke Scott doesn't think he'll need a trip to the disabled list despite admitting that "it was hard for me to move" due to the back spasms he suffered Saturday. "First swing of the day, slider inside, I got some spasms going on in my back," said Scott. "I just finished the at-bat, kept going, hoping that the pain would subside or loosen up. Then it just kept staying tight . especially when I breathe and take a deep breath. It was hard for me to move." Scott said he's dealt with similar spasms 3-4 times in his career, so we trust that he knows how badly he's hurt. Felix Pie will handle left field until he's ready.

Luke Scott left Saturday's game in the fourth inning with an undisclosed injury. Scott flied out in his first at-bat but was pinch-hit for by Felix Pie in the fourth. We'll update Scott's status when more is known.
