Valbuena (hamstring) began running the bases Friday and is expected go on a rehab assignment in the next five to seven days, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena was sidelined with a Grade 1 right hamstring strain in late March, so he's on pace to land right in the expected four-to-six week recovery period. Expect Valbuena to need a few games in the minors as well, which would slate him for a return to the majors in the first week of May.

Valbuena (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day DL.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena suffered a Grade 1 right hamstring strain on Mar. 22 and was expected to be out for 4-6 weeks. With the 31-year-old out for the beginning of the season, C.J. Cron will likely be the Angels' starting first baseman.

Valbuena was diagnosed with a grade one right hamstring strain and will be out for 4-6 weeks.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena was lifted from a Cactus League game earlier in the week with hamstring tightness, and a recent MRI revealed he'll be forced to start the season on the DL with a grade one right hamstring strain. With the 31-year-old out for the beginning of the season, C.J. Cron will likely be named Angels' starting first baseman.

Valbuena is scheduled to undergo an MRI on his injured hamstring, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena was removed from Wednesday's Cactus League game with hamstring tightness, and seeing as he had surgery on the same hamstring last August, the Angels want to make sure it isn't anything overly serious. Manager Mike Scioscia still believes it is a 'mild' injury, but more should be known about the 31-year-old's status after the tests are done.

Valbuena left Wednesday's spring league game due to tightness in his hamstring, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena had his 2016 season cut short due to a hamstring injury that ultimately required surgery, so this isn't anything to take lightly. He's set to be re-evaluated, and more should be known about his status afterwards.

Valbuena went 1-for-3 with a strikeout on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena played first base in a spring game for the first time in nearly two weeks, as the 31-year-old was dealing with a sore leg. He's lost some ground to C.J. Cron in the race for the starting first base job, but he'll have plenty of time to make his case the rest of spring training.

Manager Mike Scioscia said that he expects Valbuena (leg) to return to game action Wednesday, The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena has come along slowly after experiencing soreness in his left leg (not the same leg he had surgery on in the offseason). It sounds like the soreness wasn't considered serious and the veteran slugger is expected to return to the lineup Wednesday. It is fair to say that he has lost some ground in the race for the starting first base job to C.J. Cron, but there is still plenty of time left in spring training for Valbuena to throw his hat back in the race.

Valbuena (leg) remains sidelined due to soreness in his left leg, though he said he's feeling better and could return in the next few days, Jeff Fletcher of The Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
The utility infielder has been taken along slowly lately, but there's no reason yet to believe he'll miss any time to start the regular season. Valbuena has some pop to offer in a bench role and could find a useful spot on an AL-only fantasy team.

Valbuena saw his first Cactus League action Sunday, starting at third base and going 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI in a win over Oakland.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena was brought in to provide left-handed power at the corners for the Angels. He underwent offseason surgery to repair his hamstring and he appears to be healthy heading into the season. The Angels have two right-handed players they feel comfortable starting everyday at the corners in Yunel Escobar and C.J. Cron, so a platoon may not be the easiest solution to playing time for Valbuena. Ultimately, it will come down to manager Mike Scioscia deciding how he wants to divide the playing time. Hopefully he gives a more concrete plan as we get closer to the season because both Valbuena and Cron have big power potential if either gets the majority of at-bats at first base.

Valbuena is not limited by the hamstring surgery he underwent last August and is ready to compete for the Angels' first base job, the Orange County Register reports.
EDGE Analysis
Valbuena followed up his breakout campaign in 2015 with an even better start to the 2016 season, slashing a career-best .260/.357/.459 with 16 homers in 90 games prior to going down with a season-ending hamstring injury. Now that he is healthy, the 31-year-old is ready to compete with C.J. Cron for the lion's share of at-bats at first base. Despite their opposite handedness, both batters' splits indicate that they are better against righties, so a strict platoon isn't a guarantee. This will be a battle to monitor this spring because the winner will be a high power upside option in fantasy.
