Perdomo will start the fifth game of the regular season, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perdomo beat out Jarred Cosart for the fifth spot. He walked eight batters in 18.2 spring innings but struck out 11 and posted a 2.41 ERA, which was enough to lock up a job for a volatile rotation. The 23-year-old has a smidge of upside because of his mid- to upper-90s heat. He warrants a guarded NL-only fantasy speculation and might earn a look in some mixed leagues as the year goes on.

Perdomo will remain a starter whether he wins one of the Padres' rotation spots or loses and is sent to Triple-A El Paso, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Despite his 5.71 ERA last year, Perdomo showed some exciting developments late in the year when he started throwing his split-finger fastball more often. His velocity reaches the upper 90s, which adds to his potential sleeper value. Still, if San Diego prefers to season the 23-year-old with Triple-A rotation work, his breakout potential will have to wait.

Perdomo is one of five candidates vying for the Padres' final two rotation spots this spring, The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Perdomo entered camp competing for a rotation spot, and he has done nothing to take himself out of the race this spring (3.18 ERA in 5.2 innings). What is working against the hard-throwing righty is the presence of three minor league options, while the four pitchers he is competing with have none left and would have to clear waivers if they don't make the 25-man roster. Perdomo could force the Padres' hand with a strong finish to the spring campaign.

Perdomo made easy work of the White Sox in his two innings of work, giving up just one hit and striking out two in a spring training loss.
EDGE Analysis
The flamethrowing righty is trying to solidify his spot in the Padres' shaky rotation. He had a horrendous MLB debut last season, posting a 7.48 ERA in first half of the season before settling down in the second half with a more tolerable 4.30 ERA. Despite his heavy sinker averaging 93.6 mph, Perdomo wasn't able to strike out a ton of batters (6.4 K/9), which limits his upside as a fantasy option even if he does make the rotation.

Updating a previous note, Perdomo will have to make the rotation or risk being cut heading into spring training, AJ Casavell of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Prior to pitchers and catchers reporting, it sounded like Perdomo was a safe bet to make the rotation. Now the club seems to have taken a "make or break" stance with their hard-throwing righty. That being said, Perdomo would have to really screw up this spring to miss the cut, especially considering how poor San Diego's rotation looks right now.

Perdomo is a lock to make the rotation, according to the Padres' Official Site.
EDGE Analysis
The Padres have arguably the worst projected starting rotation heading into spring training. While Perdomo's 5.71 ERA looks ugly from last season, he did fare better as a starter (4.85 ERA) and offers a hard fastball with good movement. At 23-years-old, the Padres have little reason not to roll him out there again this season.

Perdomo (9-10) gave up five runs on seven hits -- including three homers -- and a walk Wednesday, but still recorded a win against the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
In a rare occurrence, the Padres' offense mustered enough firepower to overcome Perdomo's ineffectiveness. He ends the 2016 campaign with a 5.71 ERA and 105:46 K:BB with 21 homers allowed in 146.2 innings; those numbers will leave him out of consideration in the vast majority of next year's drafts.

Perdomo (8-10) allowed three runs on five hits without a walk over seven frames in Wednesday's loss to the Diamondbacks. He struck out two.
EDGE Analysis
He was actually outdueling Zack Greinke through five innings in this one, having allowed just a first-inning Paul Goldschmidt solo shot. However, Goldschmidt homered off him for the second time in the sixth inning, a two-run blast that turned the game around and landed the Padres in the loss column. Perdomo's been surprisingly effective over his last six outings, pitching to an even 3.00 ERA with an even 1.00 WHIP in that span, with much-improved control to thank. Even so, he lacks pedigree and strikeout stuff, making it hard to see him sustaining this success. Perdomo next draws a Dodgers team that blasted him for nine hits and five runs earlier this month.

Perdomo (8-9) allowed just one run on four hits, struck out five and walked one over 6.1 innings in a victory over the Giants on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
The right-hander retired the side in order four times, which helped keep his pitch count low. Perdomo exited the game having thrown just 87 pitches. In three of his last five starts, he has allowed just two runs combined. Unfortunately, in the other two outings in that span, he's yielded at least four. Perdomo will try to keep this going in his next start Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Perdomo (7-9) allowed four runs on eight hits, struck out four and walked one over 6.2 innings in a loss to the Rockies on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
He threw 70 of his 103 pitches for strikes, but his biggest mistake became a two-run homer, which was enough to beat him as San Diego only scored one run. Perdomo has allowed three homers in his last three starts. He is scheduled to pitch next at San Francisco on Wednesday.
