Matos started at left field and went 2-for-4 with a double and a run scored during Sunday's 9-3 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Matos led off the fifth inning with a double to center field before coming around to score the first of three runs in the frame. The 23-year-old outfielder recorded his third multi-hit game of the season Sunday, marking his first such performance since April 2. Matos has logged a .250 batting average with two RBI, a home run, a double and a 2:2 BB:K across 18 plate appearances in his last five games. He began the season hitting .167 with two extra-base hits and a 1:2 BB:K in 31 plate appearances over his first 10 games.

Matos went 1-for-1 with two walks, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Saturday's 6-3 win over the Rockies.
EDGE Analysis
Matos, who served as the designated hitter, put the Giants on the board in the third inning, when he took Bradley Blalock deep to left-center field for a solo homer. Matos has struggled at the plate this season and has gone 2-for-28 over his last nine games (including Saturday). Even with his slow start to the season, Matos should still see starts in the outfield in a platoon with Mike Yastrzemski.

Matos drew the start at center field and went 0-for-3 during Thursday's 4-3 loss to the Rockies.

The 23-year-old received the starting nod with Jung Hoo Lee sitting out against southpaw Kyle Freeland. Matos has been used sparingly this season and is just 1-for-27 at the plate over his last eight appearances. He's now slashing .146/.167/.244 with three runs scored, two extra-base hits, one RBI and a 1:4 BB:K across 42 plate appearances.

EDGE Analysis
Matos received the starting nod in right field against southpaw Yusei Kikuchi but failed to record a hit for the fifth straight game. The 23-year-old outfielder continues to platoon with Mike Yastrzemski, drawing starts against left-handed pitchers. However, Matos has gone 0-for-16 in his last five appearances. He's slashing .167/.194/.300 with a home run, two additional runs scored and a 1:2 BB:K across 31 plate appearances this season.

Matos went 2-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Astros.
EDGE Analysis
Matos drew the start in center field due to Jung Hoo Lee getting the night off against southpaw Framber Valdez. Matos cracked a 395-foot solo shot to left field in the second frame, which landed just above the yellow line and was initially ruled a double. The 23-year-old outfielder is expected to continue facing lefties, and in three outings this season, he's slashing .400/.455/.800 across 11 plate appearances.

Matos is expected to make the Opening Day roster and form a platoon with Mike Yastrzemski in right field, Maria Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matos has been impressive during Cactus League play, hitting .358 with two home runs, 11 RBI and two steals across 53 at-bats. The 23-year-old recorded a .213/.237/.347 slash line over 45 regular-season games in the 2024 campaign, and he struggled to stay settled at the plate, finishing with a 40.1 percent chase rate. However, Matos could be in line for an increased role in 2025 after bouncing between the big leagues and Triple-A Sacramento last season. "He is getting better pitches to hit, and that's always going to be, for him, the most important thing," manager Bob Melvin said. "Not chasing too much. Last year, when he was getting good pitches to hit, he went crazy, and then all of a sudden he was a little bit too aggressive. Even though he hasn't walked [a lot], we've seen him take some first pitches. We've seen him get a little bit deeper in counts. I think that is a progression for him."

Matos is the front-runner for the fourth outfielder role and is likely to platoon with Mike Yastrzemski, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matos is hitting .308 (8-for-26) with a home run in ten games this spring. Matos would be in the weak side of the platoon and face lefties. He hit 14 home runs with a .779 OPS at Triple-A last season, but struggled with a .584 OPS in 45 games in the majors. At age 23, he may finally be finding his footing against big league pitching this spring.

Matos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Matos is not in Sunday's lineup, but he'll replace Mark Canha (thumb sprain) as a righty-hitting bench option. Matos is just 22 years old, but he was below league average at Triple-A (91 wRC+) and the majors (62 wRC+) this season.

The Giants optioned Matos to Triple-A Sacramento on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Matos has gone 2-for-10 with a home run and two runs scored across four games since rejoining the Giants on Sept. 3. Rather than keeping six outfielders on their big-league roster, San Francisco will now send him back to Triple-A in favor of infielder Donovan Walton, who was recalled from Sacramento in a corresponding move.

Matos went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Matos was the latter part of back-to-back home runs against Joe Musgrove in the fifth and picked up his first hit in 10 plate appearances since being called back up Sept. 3. He's struck out multiple times in all three appearances he's made since his return to the majors and won't have a shot at a bigger role unless injuries in front of him arise. For the year, Matos is slashing .211/.235/.340 with five homers, 25 RBI, 13 runs and a 5:24 BB:K in 153 plate appearances.
