Matos is not in the lineup Tuesday versus the Mariners.
EDGE Analysis
Mike Yastrzemski is covering center field for the Giants and batting fifth. Matos went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts in Monday's series opener versus Seattle and has slashed just .226/.304/.290 through his first 69 major-league plate appearances.

Matos went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Saturday's win over Arizona.
EDGE Analysis
Matos grounded into a double play in his first at-bat before reaching on a single in his second plate appearance. However, the rookie outfielder stole the show in the bottom of the sixth, crushing a two-run home run to left field to score Brandon Crawford and put the Giants up 7-5. It was Matos' first home run of his big-league career and his second two-RBI game since being called up earlier this month. He's also recorded three two-hit games while maintaining a very solid 6:3 BB:K at the plate.

Matos went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and a run scored in Wednesday's 4-2 win over the Padres.
EDGE Analysis
Matos singled, stole second and scored to spark a four-run rally in the fifth inning. This was his second multi-hit effort in his young career, and he's batting .304 (7-for-23) over his seven major-league games. Matos has added two steals, two RBI, 10 runs scored and a double over 29 plate appearances, and he doesn't look out of place, as he's walked six times and struck out only once. He's seized the starting job in center field, and he may get more stability in that role if Mike Yastrzemski's hamstring injury from Wednesday sends the veteran to the injured list.

Matos went 2-for-3 with two walks, a stolen base and four runs scored in Saturday's 15-0 win over the Dodgers.
EDGE Analysis
Matos has started his major-league career 3-for-8 with five walks and six runs scored over three games. His steal Saturday was also the first of his career. The top prospect wasn't showing much patience with a 6.1 percent walk rate in 24 games with Triple-A Sacramento this year, but his 6.9 percent strikeout rate at that level also suggests he rarely takes bad swings. Matos has started three straight games in center field, and it appears the ripple effect of his promotion has seen Blake Sabol retreat to a bench role.

The Giants recalled Matos from Triple-A Sacramento on Wednesday. He'll start in center field and bat second in the Giants' series finale in St. Louis, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matos is set to make his major-league debut Wednesday after posting a .389 batting average with seven home runs, 20 RBI, 21 runs scored and six stolen bases over 116 plate appearances in 24 games with Sacramento this season. With Mitch Haniger (forearm) landing on the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move and expected to miss significant time, Matos could carve out a role for himself in the San Francisco lineup if he can get off to a strong start to his time in the big leagues.

Matos was removed from Triple-A Sacramento's game Tuesday in the third inning, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This does not appear to be related to injury for Matos, but rather, a potential callup for the young outfielder after the Giants' Mitch Haniger (undisclosed) was removed from Tuesday's game after being hit by a pitch. Matos has hit .398 with a 1.120 OPS for Sacramento and is widely considered one of the best hitting prospects in the San Francisco system. He'd be worth a roster add in the majority of formats if he does receive a promotion to the 26-man active roster.

Matos was promoted from Double-A Richmond to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Danny Emerman of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
EDGE Analysis
Matos will likely make his Triple-A debut Wednesday. The outfield prospect showed a great eye at the plate in Double-A, posting a 12.8 percent walk rate and a 9.0 percent strikeout rate over 31 contests. He slashed .304/.398/.443 with three home runs, 16 RBI, 18 runs scored and nine stolen bases. He's enjoyed a fairly quick rise through the minors, and there's at least a slight chance he could be summoned for his major-league debut at some point this summer.

The Giants optioned Matos to minor-league camp Wednesday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
EDGE Analysis
The 21-year-old outfield prospect slashed .211/.275/.344 through 407 plate appearances with High-A Eugene last season and has already shown enough potential to warrant a spot on the Giants' 40-man roster. Matos went 6-for-24 at the plate this spring with a home run, and he will likely return to Eugene for the start of 2023 with a shot at reaching Double-A at some point.

Matos was added to the Giants' 40-man roster Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The 20-year-old dealt with a quad injury and endured a rough season in 2022 with a .619 OPS, 11 home runs, 43 RBI and 11 stolen bases in 91 games with High-A Eugene. Matos is still one of San Francisco's better prospects, so the organization decided to protect him from being potentially selected during the upcoming Rule 5 draft.

Matos batted just .211/.275/.344 with 11 homers, 11 steals and a 27:65 BB:K across 91 High-A games in 2022.
EDGE Analysis
He did warm up late in the campaign, hitting .282/.309/.470 with five homers and six steals across his final 27 games, but overall, this was a bit of a lost season for Matos, who missed time with a quad injury and simply couldn't get his bat going for most of the season. There are positive signs here, though -- Matos put up a highly unlucky .226 BABIP while posting just a 16 percent strikeout rate, and you only have to look as far back as 2021 to see much better numbers from him. Still just 20 years old, Matos will have every opportunity to bounce back next season and cement his status as one of the Giants' top prospects.
