Giolito has been called up from Double-A Harrisburg to start Tuesday's game against the Mets.
EDGE Analysis
One of the top prospects in all of baseball, the 21-year-old Giolito has yet to pitch above the Double-A level, but he might still have a shot to stick with the Nationals beyond Tuesday's MLB debut. He owns a 3.17 ERA, 1.42 WHIP and 72:34 K:BB over 71 innings (14 starts) for Double-A Harrisburg this year, having posted similar rate numbers over eight outings with the team at the end of last season. The length of Giolito's first MLB visit may depend on the health of Stephen Strasburg (back), who is eligible to return from the disabled list Friday.

Giolito will be called up to start Tuesday's game against the Mets, Chelsea Janes of the Washington Post reports.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito, who has a 3.17 ERA and 1.42 WHIP through 14 starts at the Double-A level this season, will finally get the opportunity to make his MLB debut in a matchup with Matt Harvey and the Mets on Tuesday. The Nationals made Giolito the 16th overall pick in the 2012 draft when he was just 17 years old, and since then he has continuously climbed the prospect ranks and currently sits as the third-best prospect in all of baseball. Manager Dusty Baker has stated that he is unsure how long Giolito will stay with the team, and that they will take it start-by-start, but the 21-year-old certainly has the talent to be a quality arm for the Nationals this season.

Giolito, 21, has a 2.64 ERA and 62:29 K:BB through 61.1 innings for Double-A Harrisburg.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito's control has been better of late, as he sports an impressive 32:7 K:BB over his last four starts, a span of 27 innings. The 21-year-old likely won't pitch more than 150 innings this season, so his MLB premiere is more likely to take place in 2017 as opposed to later this season.

Giolito, 21, has posted a 3.82 ERA, 1.65 WHIP and 30:22 K:BB ratio over 35.1 innings at Double-A Harrisburg.
EDGE Analysis
Giolito's control has been shakier than advertised through his eight starts with Harrisburg, but he's at least receiving the green light to begin working deeper in games. After having not thrown more than four innings in his first five starts of the season, Giolito has gone at least five innings in his last three turns.

Giolito got roughed up in his last start for Double-A Harrisburg, giving up six earned runs on five hits and four walks while striking out four over three innings.
EDGE Analysis
His ERA jumped from 2.87 to 5.30 thanks to Wednesday's outing, which was by far his worst of the season. His 17:14 K:BB in 18.2 innings shows that he's not even ready for a promotion to Triple-A, let alone the big leagues. A pitcher with Giolito's raw talent can turn things around in a hurry, however, so he could still be up sometime this summer if a spot were to open up in the big league rotation. That said, if a spot opened up in May or early June, Austin Voth would be the intriguing prospect to keep an eye on, as he has earned a look thanks to a great start at Triple-A Syracuse.
