Gilbert was scheduled to start Monday versus the Marlins with Bryce Miller scheduled for Sunday against the Angels, but the two will switch spots in the Seattle rotation. It's made possible by the Mariners having Thursday off, so Gilbert will be pitching on regular rest in the series finale versus the Halos.

Gilbert (4-3) allowed a run on three hits and two walks with six strikeouts in seven innings, earning the win Tuesday over the Padres.

After getting tagged for seven runs (five earned) over four innings versus the Yankees in his last start, Gilbert bounced back with his second-longest outing of the season. He's projected for a home start versus the Marlins next week.

Gilbert's night got started with a 38-pitch first inning during which the Yankees put three runs on the board off a couple of singles, a walk and an error by Eugenio Suarez. The right-hander was unable to really get going from there and wound up allowing a three-run homer to Anthony Volpe in the third and a solo blast to Greg Allen in the fourth before his day was done. Tuesday was just the second time this season Gilbert has given up multiple homers and failed to reach five innings in a start. His four strikeouts also tied his season low. Still, the 26-year-old currently owns a 6.6 K/BB, and he seems to be getting a bit unlucky as he has a 3.14 FIP in comparison to a 4.08 ERA. Gilbert's 0.98 WHIP ranks third in MLB, and he'll look to get back on track next week in a road matchup with the Padres.

Gilbert allowed two of the first four batters he faced to record a hit, with Seth Brown taking him deep for a two-run home run. After that Gilbert allowed just one more single while throwing just 77 pitches (59 strikes) in an efficient start. The right-hander has six quality starts among his 10 outings this season, and this was the second time he issued no walks. For the season, he's at a 3.60 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 69;10 K:BB through 60 innings. Gilbert will likely be tested a bit more in a home start versus the Yankees next week.

Gilbert had a tough first inning, in which he allowed a two-run home run to Matt Olson, but he was able to settle in after that. This was Gilbert's fifth quality start in nine outings this season, and it was the first time in his last four starts he's allowed a homer. The right-hander is now at a 3.81 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 63:10 K:BB through 52 innings. He's projected for a favorable home start versus the Athletics next week.

Gilbert did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on six hits and a walk over 5.2 innings against the Tigers. He struck out four.

EDGE Analysis

Gilbert allowed a run in the opening frame, another one in the third and then couldn't quite make it through the sixth after Andy Ibanez doubled off him with two outs. Trevor Gott allowed the inherited runner to score before he was able to close out the inning. Gilbert wasn't as effective as usual Sunday. He allowed 10 hard hit balls and had a season-low four strikeouts while just missing out on a third consecutive quality start against one of the weaker offenses in the league. Still, Gilbert has allowed three runs or less in six of his eight starts on the year and will take a 3.91 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 54:9 K:BB into his next projected start against Atlanta.

The 26-year-old has proven himself to be a dependable option, as he hasn't allowed more than four runs in an appearance this season.

Gilbert pitched as well as fantasy managers could've hoped for, keeping Oakland in the park and posting a 3:1 strikeout-to-walk ratio. The right-hander has proven to be a solid option, sporting a 1.07 WHIP to go along with 40 strikeouts across 33.2 innings. The 25-year-old is tentatively slated to face the Rangers at home in his next start.

The Phillies hit Gilbert early, as Nick Castellanos swatted a two-run homer in the first before a Kyle Schwarber single plated Bryson Stott in the third. Wednesday's start marked Gilbert's second straight appearance allowing four runs, while his seven hits given up set a season-high. Fantasy managers saving grace has been Gilbert's reliable strikeout production, as the 25-year-old has recorded at least six strikeouts in all of his appearances so far.

Gilbert (shoulder) is confirmed to start Wednesday's game against the Phillies.

EDGE Analysis

Heading into the week, Gilbert had been in line to start Tuesday, but the Mariners opted to flip him in the pitching schedule with Marco Gonzales after Gilbert felt muscle spasms in the scapula area while he was working out Sunday. Fortunately for Gilbert, the shoulder issue doesn't seem to have prevented him from making his between-starts bullpen session, so he shouldn't face any major restrictions while he returns to the hill Wednesday on seven days' rest.
