Gilbert (1-1) earned the win Wednesday, allowing one run on four hits and one walk over 6.2 innings in a 5-2 victory over the Cubs. He struck out seven.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert allowed back-to-back singles to Nico Hoerner and Nick Madrigal to start his outing, with the former coming around to score on a sacrifice fly by Cody Bellinger, but he settled down after that and retired 12 straight batters, including four consecutive strikeouts, before Miles Mastrobuoni reached on a two-out single in the fifth. The right-hander got into trouble again in the seventh after allowing a leadoff single to Bellinger and walking Patrick Wisdom, but he was replaced with two outs by Matt Brash, who got Mastrobuoni on a groundout to end the inning. Through three starts (16.2 innings), Gilbert has allowed five runs on 14 hits and four walks while striking out 19.

Gilbert did not factor into the decision Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over four innings in a 5-3 win over the Guardians. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert allowed one run in three of his four innings, but he salvaged his outing with six strikeouts and was let off the hook for the loss as Seattle scored the final five runs of the contest. Across his first two starts, the right-hander has given up four runs across 10 innings and sports a strong 13:3 K:BB.

Gilbert (0-1) was tagged with the loss Saturday against Cleveland, allowing one run on four hits and one walk while striking out seven batters over six innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert was excellent in his season debut, tossing 64 of 85 pitches for strikes and limiting the Guardians to just a fourth-inning home run by Josh Naylor. However, Seattle couldn't manage to push any runs over the plate, saddling the right-hander with the loss. Gilbert -- and his fantasy managers -- nonetheless should walk away from this performance with plenty of positive takeaways, and there's certainly reason to believe that the third-year hurler can build upon his strong 2022 campaign during which he posted a 3.20 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 174:49 K:BB over 185.2 frames. His next outing is tentatively slated to be a rematch against Cleveland next week.

Gilbert was credited with a win in Monday's Cactus League victory over the Brewers, firing four scoreless innings during which he allowed three hits and recorded five strikeouts.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert's most impressive spring training outing yet saw him match the four innings he'd worked his last time out against the Royals, except the right-hander kept his scorecard free of any runs after giving up to two to Kansas City. Gilbert now has a 3.55 ERA and 1.03 WHIP across 12.2 innings in Cactus League play, and Shannon Drayer of 710 ESPN Seattle reports the 25-year-old was particularly happy with how his new split-changeup continued to progress. "That was probably one of the best days I felt with it," Gilbert said of his new pitch. "If it stays where it was today, I would be thrilled with it for sure."

Gilbert is working on a split-changeup this spring that he unveiled in his Cactus League debut against the Padres on Thursday, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert allowed three earned runs on three hits and two walks over 1.2 innings versus the Padres, even though manager Scott Servais feels the 25-year-old is the furthest along of the Mariners hurlers experimenting with some form of a splitter at the moment. The right-hander took a major step forward with a 13-6 record, 3.20 ERA and 1.18 WHIP across 32 starts in 2022, but he also was unsurprisingly fatigued by the time Seattle's postseason concluded after throwing 185.2 innings during the regular season and 5.1 frames in his one playoff start. Consequently, Kramer notes Gilbert is being eased into his spring training work, and the plan is to keep a close eye on how much live hitting he faces in Cactus League play. "I think they're on track with probably the best idea for what I should do," Gilbert said. "I've been feeling great and bullpens, locked in."

Gilbert allowed a run on three hits and two walks while striking out four over eight innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Friday.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert pitched well enough to win, but he didn't get the necessary run support. He allowed more than one run just once in six starts in September, yielding eight runs across 36 innings in that span for an ERA of 2.00. His gem Friday lowered his season ERA to 3.20 with a 1.18 WHIP and 174:49 K:BB through 185.2 innings across 32 starts. He is tentatively lined up for one more regular-season start during next week's series versus the Tigers, though the Mariners may opt to hold him in reserve if he figures into their playoff rotation.

Gilbert allowed five runs on seven hits and one walk while striking out three batters over five innings in a no-decision against Kansas City on Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert never settled into a groove in the outing, allowing at least one run in each of his first four frames. The right-hander had struck out nine or more batters in three of his previous four starts but punched out only three Royals on Saturday. Gilbert also saw his six-game stretch of allowing two or fewer earned runs come to an end, though Seattle's offense helped him avoid taking a loss. He still owns a strong 3.29 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 13-6 record in his second major-league campaign.

Gilbert (13-6) allowed one run on four hits and a walk over six innings Monday, striking out 11 and earning a win over the Angels.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert was locked in Monday, setting new season bests in strikeouts (11) and whiffs (21). He worked through five shutout frames before giving up an RBI sacrifice fly to Taylor Ward in the sixth inning. Gilbert is 3-1 with a stellar 0.78 ERA and 34:5 K:BB over his last four starts. Through 172.2 innings this season, the 25-year-old is sporting a 3.13 ERA. Gilbert is lined up to start in Kansas City this weekend.

Gilbert (12-6) took the loss during Tuesday's 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Padres, allowing one run on four hits and three walks with five strikeouts in five innings.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert surrendered one baserunner in each of the first three innings before permitting two in each of the next two, with the lone run coming across in the fourth. Despite the loss, Gilbert held the opposing offense to three runs or fewer for the sixth straight outing, pitching to a 2.08 ERA across 34.1 innings with 34 strikeouts during the stretch. He carries a 3.19 ERA into his next start, tentatively scheduled to come early next week against the Angels.

Gilbert (12-5) allowed five hits and hit one batter with a pitch while striking out nine over six shutout innings to earn the win Tuesday over the White Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Gilbert has looked more like he did in April with 12 scoreless innings and 18 strikeouts across his first two starts of September. The right-hander threw 62 of 101 pitches for strikes Tuesday, including an impressive 18 whiffs. He's down to a 3.23 ERA with a 1.20 WHIP and 151:42 K:BB through 161.2 innings through 28 starts this year. Gilbert lines up for a home start versus the Padres next week.
