He still has plenty of potential, but the Braves have a deep stable of pitching prospects to call on, so they have little reason to stick with one who is currently struggling. One of those prospects, Touki Toussaint, was called up to take his roster spot but may be headed to the bullpen.

Wright (0-2) took the loss Friday, coughing up six runs on eight hits and four walks over 3.2 innings while striking out three as Atlanta fell 6-2 to the Mets.

EDGE Analysis

Half the hits off the rookie went for extra bases, including a Brandon Nimmo homer in the second inning, and Wright only managed five swinging strikes among his 76 pitches (45 total strikes). With Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) currently targeting a return to the rotation in a week or so, Wright might only get one more start -- at home Wednesday against the Diamondbacks -- before a demotion to the bullpen or Triple-A Gwinnett.

Wright didn't factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over six innings while striking out four in a 4-2 loss to the Marlins.

EDGE Analysis

Both runs scored on solo shots by Jorge Alfaro and Pete O'Brien, but otherwise Wright breezed to a quality start, throwing 46 of 77 pitches for strikes. The rookie right-hander will try again for his first big-league win Thursday, at home against the Mets.

Wright (0-1) allowed three runs on two hits and five walks while striking out four in a loss to the Phillies on Sunday night.

EDGE Analysis

Nerves may have been an issue early on, as Wright handed out three consecutive free passes in the first inning of his very first big-league start. He eventually settled down and was decent the rest of the way outside of a homer and a HBP; two of the three runs charged to Wright crossed the plate after he exited the game. He will look for better results this weekend against the Marlins at home.

Wright will start next Sunday's series finale against the Phillies.

Wright entering spring training trying to earn a spot in the Braves' starting rotation, and he's now set to take the mound during the opening series of the season. The 23-year-old posted a 2.51 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB over 28.2 innings at Triple-A last season before joining the Braves in September.

Wright didn't make it out of the first inning in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays, allowing six runs on four hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks while striking out two in 0.2 innings.

EDGE Analysis

Brandon Lowe and Nate Lowe both took the right-hander deep, the first two homers he's served up this spring. Wright had been outstanding in camp until this outing, as reflected in his 18:4 K:BB through 12.2 innings, but the timing won't help his chances of winning a spot in the Braves' rotation to begin the season.
