Wright didn't make it out of the first inning in Thursday's Grapefruit League game against the Rays, allowing six runs on four hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks while striking out two in 0.2 innings.
EDGE Analysis
Brandon Lowe and Nate Lowe both took the right-hander deep, the first two homers he's served up this spring. Wright had been outstanding in camp until this outing, as reflected in his 18:4 K:BB through 12.2 innings, but the timing won't help his chances of winning a spot in the Braves' rotation to begin the season.

Wright allowed two runs on three hits and a walk over four innings while striking out five in Saturday's Grapefruit League game against the Red Sox.
EDGE Analysis
Facing a lineup that featured every big name on the Boston roster expect Andrew Benintendi, Wright gave up a couple of first-inning runs on a J.D. Martinez sac fly and a Xander Bogaerts RBI double, but the young right-hander showed good poise by shaking it off and fanning five batters over his final three frames. He now boasts an amazing 16:2 K:BB through 12 spring innings, and based purely on performance, Wright has earned a spot in the Braves' rotation.

Wright allowed two runs on four hits and a walk over three innings while striking out five in Monday's Grapefruit League game against the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves' No. 7 fantasy prospect continues to keep himself in the running for the fifth starter job to begin the regular season. Monday's walk was Wright's first of the spring in eight innings, and he's paired that control with a whopping 11 strikeouts. If the 23-year-old doesn't break camp on the 25-man roster, he'll head back to Triple-A Gwinnett -- where he posted a 2.51 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 28:8 K:BB in 28 innings in 2018 -- and wait for his next big-league opportunity.

Wright spun three scoreless innings Tuesday in the Braves' 5-1 exhibition loss to the Yankees. He gave up two hits and no walks while striking out three.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has dazzled through his first two outings of the spring, keeping the opposition off the board across five frames while posting a 6:0 K:BB. The pair of outstanding appearances have put Wright firmly in the mix for the fifth spot in the rotation that opened up after Mike Soroka (shoulder) suffered a setback in the spring. Touki Toussaint looks like Wright's top competition for the No. 5 role at present, but there could be room for both pitchers if Mike Foltynewicz (elbow) fails to progress as expected in the next few weeks.

Wright will join the Braves as a September callup after his contract was selected Saturday.
EDGE Analysis
Wright is one of a number of highly-touted prospects in the Braves' system. He has long-term potential as a No 2 starter, though he's likely to pitch in a bullpen role down the stretch. The 22-year-old has a 2.51 ERA in 28.2 innings for Triple-A Gwinnett following a late-July promotion.

Wright could join the big-league bullpen in September, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
The Braves may look to continue to show off their impressive stable of high-end pitching prospects, although it doesn't sound like Wright will get a start. Promoted to Triple-A Gwinnett at the end of July, Wright has a 2.81 ERA, 0.82 WHIP and 25 strikeouts in 25.2 innings across four starts for the Stripers. He has No. 2 starter upside long term, but could be deadly in short bursts out of the bullpen. Look for him to join the big-league rotation at some point in 2019.

Wright was called up to Triple-A Gwinnett on Monday, Jon Heyman of Fancred reports.
EDGE Analysis
Wright had logged a 3.70 ERA and 1.34 WHIP across 20 starts for Double-A Mississippi at the time of this promotion. In addition, he posted a 105:43 K:BB with a 0.5 HR/9 through 109.1 innings. The 22-year-old right-hander will get his first taste of action at the Triple-A level in the coming days. Wright employs a mid-90s fastball to go along with a plus curveball and slider. He will take Kolby Allard's spot in the rotation.

Wright gave up four runs (three earned) over 5.2 innings and fanned a career-high 13 batters Tuesday for Double-A Mississippi in its 6-5 loss to Jacksonville.
EDGE Analysis
The punchout total was one shy of the Mississippi record and beat Wright's previous best by five strikeouts. The right-hander now sports a strong 9.2 K/9 for the season, but his control could stand some improvement, as was evident Tuesday. He issued three free passes -- the third time in four starts he has allowed that man walks -- and uncorked a season-high three wild pitches in the outing. Fellow pitching prospects Luiz Gohara and Kolby Allard seem more likely to contribute for the Braves in the second half than Wright, who is trending toward a 2019 promotion to the big club.

Wright will open the season at Double-A Mississippi, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is not surprising, as the 22-year-old righty is very advanced and would not have been challenged with a return trip to the Florida State League. While it might be tempting to dream on Wright pitching his way to the majors this season, he is behind four or five other starting pitching prospects in the Braves' system, so he would really need to be lights out at Double-A and Triple-A to force the issue this season. Wright has No. 2 starter upside, and is the best college pitcher from the 2017 draft class for dynasty-league purposes.

Wright was reassigned to minor-league camp Sunday.
EDGE Analysis
Wright has exciting tools in his pitching repertoire, but the 22-year-old doesn't have a whole lot of experience just yet. He'll look to get just that, with a chance to start the season at the Double-A level.
