Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Wednesday that Tucker's hairline fracture in his right hand is now healed, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker initially suffered the injury back on June 1, but the nature of the issue wasn't revealed until Wednesday. Tucker has been out of the lineup since Monday, as Counsell is trying to allow Tucker to reset at the plate after he's hit just .189 with four extra-base hits since the beginning of July. The Cubs wrap up their series with the Brewers on Thursday, and it's unclear if Tucker will be back in the lineup for the finale. Chicago then travels to face the Angeles on the road this weekend.

Tucker was diagnosed with a hairline fracture in his right hand back on June 1, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker was initially injured while sliding into second base against the Reds on June 1. While X-rays on his right finger came back negative, further testing revealed a slight fracture on the top of his hand, where the pinky and ring finger meet. Tucker's fracture has shown healing, but president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer admitted the injury has impacted his numbers. Since the start of July, Tucker is hitting .189 with just four extra-base hits. Tucker has been out of the lineup since Monday, as manager Craig Counsell indicated the star right fielder would get several days off to reset. It doesn't sound like Tucker will need a stint on the injured list, as it's more of a pain tolerance issue. However, it helps explain Tucker's slow second half of the season at the plate.

Tucker is not in the Cubs' starting lineup against the Brewers on Wednesday.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker sat out Tuesday's doubleheader and is sitting again Wednesday with manager Craig Counsell giving the outfielder some time off to hopefully shake off his ongoing slump. Owen Cassie will start in right field and bat seventh while Tucker -- who has a .182 batting average since the All-Star break -- will begin Wednesday's game on the bench.

Tucker is not the the Cubs' lineup for the second game of a split doubleheader versus the Brewers on Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Cubs manager Craig Counsell said Monday that Tucker would receive multiple days off as he battles a slump. After starting in Monday's series opener versus the Brewers, the right fielder was omitted from the lineup for both games of the split doubleheader Tuesday. As the All-Star remains on the bench as expected, Owen Caissie has the start in right field.

Cubs manager Craig Counsell indicated that Tucker will not start the second game of Monday's doubleheader and will receive multiple days off amid a slump, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker came into Monday slashing .195/.333/.242 with one home run since the beginning of July and then went 0-for-4 in the first game of the twin bill. With Tucker expected to receive multiple days off to regroup, it should open up some playing time for rookie Owen Caissie.

Tucker went 2-for-4 with a stolen base and two runs scored in Saturday's 3-1 win over the Pirates.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker had been mired in an 0-for-14 slump over his last four games, but he snapped out of it with a strong effort Saturday. The outfielder is still searching for his first home run since July 19, and in 22 contests since then, he's slashing just .187/.344/.213. Tucker may still be bothered by a finger injury sustained June 1, though he has downplayed its impact on his swing.

Tucker went 1-for-4 with a walk, an RBI and two runs scored in Saturday's 9-1 win over the Cardinals. He also stole a base.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker, who recently downplayed the impact a lingering finger injury has had on his swing, still has just one home run since the All-Star break. However, the talented outfielder was productive Saturday all the same. Tucker's fantasy ceiling is a bit lower if he's not leaving the yard consistently, but he can still deliver in other ways, including on the bases, as he now has 24 stolen bases this season in 26 attempts. His career high is 30 steals, which he recorded back in 2023 with the Astros.

Tucker, who has been hampered by a right ring finger injury sustained June 1, says the finger now feels "fine," Jordan Bastian of MLB.com reports.
EDGE Analysis
While Tucker downplayed the impact of the injury on his play in recent weeks, his production has taken a dip. In 52 games since jamming his finger on a stolen base attempt, the outfielder is slashing .255/.373/.413 with six home runs. While those aren't bad numbers, they do pale in comparison to the .283/.391/.520 slash line and 12 homers he posted in 58 contests through the end of May. Cubs president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer acknowledged the 28-year-old may have developed some bad habits in his swing to compensate for the issue, even if the finger was no longer bothering Tucker. Either way, the outfielder seems determined to play through his aches and pains, and he has enough talent to get back to the elite level he displayed earlier this season.

Tucker is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
EDGE Analysis
With the Reds sending a southpaw (Andrew Abbott) to the mound and the Cubs wrapping up their series versus Cincinnati with a day game after a night game, the left-handed-hitting Tucker will receive what appears to be a routine rest day. Tucker started in each of the Cubs' last 11 contests, slashing .237/.396/.289 with no home runs, no stolen bases, four RBI and four runs over that stretch. Willi Castro will replace Tucker in right field Wednesday.

Tucker went 2-for-3 with two walks, a double, a run scored and two RBI in Wednesday's 10-3 win over the Brewers.
EDGE Analysis
Tucker is still stuck on just one home run this month, but he looked dynamic in Wednesday's series finale. The outfielder posted only his second multi-hit performance in July and his first multi-RBI game since July 6. Tucker is too talented to not get going at some point, and Wednesday's effort could be the jump start he needs for an extended hot streak.
