Dowdy was reassigned Tuesday to the minor-league side of Orioles camp, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Dowdy had allowed four earned runs on four hits and four walks through just three innings of work this spring in the Grapefruit League. The 30-year-old right-hander is headed for the bullpen at Triple-A Norfolk to begin the 2023 campaign.

Dowdy's stay with Cincinnati lasted just one day, as he was called up from Triple-A on Sept. 17 to serve as the Reds' 29th man for a doubleheader with the Cardinals. Dowdy was returned to Cleveland after he was designated for assignment by the Rangers on Thursday, Tribeinsider reports. He was then assigned to Double-A Akron.

Dowdy cleared waivers, but as a Rule 5 pick, he was offered back to the Indians, who then accepted him back. After struggling to a 7.25 ERA and 1.97 WHIP with 17 strikeouts over 22.1 innings this season in the big leagues, he'll look to build some confidence at Double-A.

Dowdy (elbow) was activated from the 60-day injured list and then designated for assignment by the Rangers on Thursday, Jeff Wilson of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports.

EDGE Analysis

Dowdy missed time on the shelf due to a right elbow impingement, and even though he's returned to health, the Rangers have sent him to the waiver wire. If the Rule 5 pick goes unclaimed, he'll need to be offered back to the Indians, per Wilson.
