Blue Jays recalled OF Kevin Pillar from Triple-A Buffalo. Pillar was 9-for-37 (.243) in a month-long stay with Toronto earlier this season. The 25-year-old outfielder probably won't play enough to carry fantasy relevance.

Blue Jays recalled OF Kevin Pillar from Triple-A Buffalo. Colby Rasmus left Monday's game with a hamstring injury, so Pillar will serve as insurance for Toronto's outfield. The 25-year-old was hitting .305/.344/.461 with 17 extra-base hits (one home run) and five stolen bases over 34 games this season in Triple-A. He has been especially hot recently, so the Jays are hoping he'll keep it going in the majors.

Blue Jays option OF Kevin Pillar to Triple-A Buffalo. The 25-year-old outfielder was competing for a reserve outfielder role with the Jays, but hit a disappointing .152/.172/.242 in 34 plate appearances during Grapefruit League play. He'll continue to function as organizational depth.

Kevin Pillar went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer and two runs scored Saturday against the Rays. It was his third home run. Pillar really struggled coming out of the gate, but he's hitting .286 (8-for-28) over his last seven games. Still, the 24-year-old has a lousy 29/4 K/BB ratio over his first 102 plate appearances in the big leagues.

Kevin Pillar struck out all three times he was up Wednesday and is 0-for-7 since being called up on Wednesday. On the plus side, he did gun down Dustin Pedroia at the plate in the first inning tonight. Pillar has a chance to turn into a useful fourth outfielder down the line, but he's probably not ready to hit in the majors yet. That said, he's the Blue Jays' best option in left field with Melky Cabrera and Colby Rasmus out.
