Bour may not have a regular platoon partner at first base this season, requiring him to face left-handed pitchers more often.
EDGE Analysis
He's a career .223/.273/.291 hitter against lefties with no home runs in 103 at-bats over three seasons, and that performance will have to improve if he's going to take advantage of any additional opportunities against them in 2017. Even so, the Marlins seem inclined to carry an extra arm in their bullpen rather than a bat on their bench, which could leave starting catcher J.T. Realmuto as Bour's primary backup -- and force the 28-year-old slugger to sink or swim against same-side pitching.

Bour went 3-for-4 with a pair of RBI singles, a double and a run in Friday's 7-4 victory over the Nationals.
EDGE Analysis
Bour came through with timely hits in both the second and third innings, plating Christian Yelich and Martin Prado, respectively. The three-hit night was an extension of what is now a torrid four-game stretch for Bour, during which he's hit .692 (9-for-13), with a pair of doubles, a triple and three RBI, while also scoring three runs and drawing two walks.

Bour went 3-for-3 with a single, a double, and a triple Monday against the Mets, scoring twice and driving in one.
EDGE Analysis
Bour entered Monday mired in an 0-for-17 slump, but broke out in a big way against Bartolo Colon and the Mets. The triple was Bour's first of the season, and the double he hit in the second inning was his first extra-base hit since June 30, although he missed roughly two months with an ankle injury. He's now batting .254/.336/.473 on the year.

Bour is not in the lineup for Friday's tilt with the Dodgers, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bour was just activated off the disabled list Tuesday after spending roughly two months on the shelf with an ankle injury, and with left-hander Clayton Kershaw (back) taking the hill for Los Angeles, Friday posed a good opportunity to get the slugger a day to rest. Chris Johnson will take over for him at first base for the night.

Bour is in the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Phillies, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Bour was able to take a pinch-hit at-bat Tuesday night after being activated from the disabled list, but he will be in the lineup Wednesday for the first time since spraining his ankle July 2. Bour will man first base Wednesday and hit sixth against Phillies starter Jeremy Hellickson.

The Marlins activated Bour (ankle) from the disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
Bour's recovery from the sprained ankle he suffered in early July has been a little rocky, but he is finally ready to get back on the field. While he will be on the roster Tuesday, he will not immediately jump back into the lineup, as Xavier Scruggs will get the start at first base. Bour owns just a .500 OPS against southpaws this season, and Scruggs has played regularly of late, so the Marlins could utilize a first-base platoon the rest of the way.

Bour (ankle) could return as early as next week, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Sidelined since early July, Bour is finally nearing a return after dealing with a number of setbacks in his recovery from a severely sprained ankle. While the Marlins continue to handle the situation with caution, it appears as though Bour could be set for a return sometime during the team's upcoming homestand, which begins Monday against the Phillies and concludes Sunday against the Dodgers. Bour would likely be used as a pinch hitter, initially, before playing the field.

Bour (ankle) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Tuesday.
EDGE Analysis
The move to place Bour on the 60-day DL opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for Oswaldo Arcia, who was claimed off waivers by the Marlins on Tuesday. Bour's recovery from a badly sprained ankle has been a tricky one with plenty of stops and starts along the way, including several expected return dates that had to be pushed back. He has been sidelined since early July, so Bour could still return in September if his ankle cooperates.

Bour was diagnosed with an ankle sprain, Clark Spencer of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
Although Bour plans to play again before the season is over, it appears that his return will be until mid-September. Until he's back in action, look for Miguel Rojas, Derek Dietrich, and Chris Johnson to continue sharing time at first base.

Marlins manager Don Mattingly says he doesn't know exactly what is going on with Bour (ankle) and doesn't expect him back until September, Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald reports.
EDGE Analysis
This is bad news for the Marlins who continue to make a push for a playoff appearance. It looked like Bour would return at some point this week, but that timetable has been pushed back at least a couple of more weeks. The Marlins will continue to use a platoon approach at first base with Chris Johnson, Derek Dietrich and Miguel Rojas.
